A Letter from PTA President
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and I offer my best wishes to all in this new year!  The PTA has had much to take stock of this year and I hope that you are happy with the job being done.

At the beginning of the year, we set as one of our goals to improve communication between ourselves, the parents and the school. We have implemented several programs that are allowing for this. They include the e-mail communication program, Constant Contact, and the calendar program, SuperSaas. It is exciting to see the use of these programs grow as the months go by. If you have any feedback about these programs, either positive or constructive, please let me know.

Another goal set was to raise enough money to not only maintain the numerous programs that the PTA provides for the school, but to purchase additional items to improve the education of the children and the facilities of the school as well. Although things have been tighter this year, we are headed in the right direction. We have a current Field fundraising net balance of $9,804. Although some of this money is earmarked for specific projects, there will be money available to meet additional needs of the school. The Field Site Council and PTA have done a great job in getting information from the teachers, parents and the kids as to the items and projects they view as priorities. Unfortunately, we will not even have close to the amount of money it will take to do all of these programs. Some of the items will take several years to accomplish. However, I will be sending out to all of you this "wish list" sometime after the new year to allow you the opportunity to see if there are things that you might be able to provide that the PTA and Site Council cannot. I am optimistic that we can do wonderful things with this opportunity.

Finally, I just want to tell you how lucky I feel to be serving the school, parents, teachers and especially the children.  It is not always easy, but it is rewarding. It is a great feeling to belong to a community like Field where the focus is on achieving something positive!

THANK YOU - Days of Sharing
Thank you to everyone for participating in the Days of Sharing at Field this year!  Your generous spirit helped provide for 6 families in our community. We received enough in donations of gifts and money to get many
of the needs granted for our families, as
well as many of their wishes!

This result was accomplished through the effort of many people. There is such a spirit of community at Field, and this is what allows us to accomplish such big goals! I want to thank the people who offered their help in so many ways with this project. They were present every day during the Days of Sharing, helping in whatever way they were needed. Thank you to the people who were there Saturday helping to get it all pulled together! Your kindness and willingness to give up your time to help others was inspiring. Everyone worked so hard, and expected nothing in return.

To all our families for being committed to bringing in donations each day and providing an example to your children to show kindness and compassion to others, thank you! The commitment to this project was overwhelming, and I cannot thank you enough!

The Student Council members were very helpful in getting the grocery sacks ready for the Cub Scout food drive. They also spent time making posters to promote Days of Sharing, and offered an example of strong leadership in their school. Please know that your efforts are so appreciated!

Thank you to our teachers for collecting and bringing in donations each day. Your support of Days of Sharing is so wonderful!  You go about your days doing your jobs with such grace and humility; thank you for all you do for our children. You are the best!

I also want to extend a special thank you to the Cub Scouts at Field, and their families. They passed out approximately 1,200 bags in the Field neighborhoods to collect donated food for our food drive. Without their efforts, the large donation to Ozarks Food Harvest would not be possible.  Thank you to the boys, leaders, and parents for volunteering two of your weekends, and braving the cold, wind and rain to provide a service for our community. Three of our PYP attitudes are commitment, cooperation and enthusiasm. I believe the Cub Scouts, their parents and leaders have given us a strong example of actively engaging in these attitudes in their community! Thank you!

Much appreciation to Ms. Zettl for providing assistance and guidance throughout the Days of Sharing! Thank you for your generous spirit, and for helping our children learn about compassion and respect.

We are blessed and fortunate to have such generous and giving families at Field. I am so proud to be a part of this project. Please know that you have enriched the lives of others in our community, and your efforts are very much appreciated!

Nominating Committee Under Construction!
HELP WANTED!
The PTA needs your help!  Would you like to have a unique voice in determining the Executive Officers for the upcoming PTA year? Each year, a PTA Nominating Committee presents to the Board the names of those it recommends to be placed on ballot.  The Executive Officers are then elected by the PTA general membership at the February meeting.

A Nominating Committee charged with slating next year's officers is to be elected, consisting of five members.  Any PTA member may be considered for this committee. Perhaps you know someone you would recommend for service on this committee or maybe you would like to toss your name into the hat!

The positions to be slated by this committee include President, President-Elect, Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-President of Fundraising, Vice-President of Communications and Vice-President of Programs.

If you are interested in serving on the Nominating Committee, or would like to recommend someone, please call or email me as soon as possible. I would like to have names to present to the Board by the end of the first week of January.

My contact information is as follows:  home 877-9210; cell 576-5677; work 864-4700; work raglaw1@rgglaw.net; and home robertgrosser@ymail.com.  Thank you for your serious consideration of this important matter.
