A Letter from PTA President
I want to start by wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! Even in this bad economy, there are lots of things to be thankful for. One of those things is that Field has had a great start to the year! I am looking forward to seeing what is going to happen over the rest of this school year.

There are many fun events coming up, including the Craft Fair on December 5, Reflections, Chat-N-Chew reading program, outdoor maintenance work parties (really, it will be fun!), the 50th anniversary of Field and the Spring Party. We are also in the midst of the Days of Sharing. You can take special pride in knowing that we were told by Ozarks Food harvest that our schools food drive brings in more food than any other school in the city!

The past few months have been good to us as well. We have had a great fall fundraising campaign with the Pancake Breakfast, Box Tops, Mr. Z's, and multiple Parent's Night Out events. The Fall Festival was a huge hit, raising money and clothing for the Clothing Bank. Imagine, we did all that while taking a hay ride, playing games, eating awesome McSalty's pizza and rocking out to some great music.  And, how about the great new Field t-shirts!  It is great seeing all the kids wearing those at school. It is also my understanding that the teachers have lost a combined 135 pounds in their biggest loser contest. A big congratulations to all of them. At Field, we are meeting our goals! I really do want to thank all of you for pitching in with your time, talents and money. None of this can happen without you. I enjoyed seeing so many people helping to make sure all these different events happened. Obviously, there are strong committee leaders, but they cannot sustain this without your help. On that note, we are going to need help with somebody heading up the committee for the Spring Party. Please contact me or Kim Woodworth if you are interested. These events cannot happen without your help.

It is my hope that people feel they know how to plug into the activities at the school. The SuperSaas calendar has been up and running for a couple months now and is working well. When shifts for specific events are available, those on our e-mail contact list will receive an e-blast with a link directly to that event's scheduling calendar. If you are not registered, please make sure you do so. If you have questions about this do not hesitate to contact me or Alice Weimer.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

DAYS OF SHARING
Days of Sharingis off to a great start this year!  Thank you to everyone for bringing in items each day during our collection week in November!  Please keep watching for more information to come home in backpacks and by e-mail.  We are adopting families in the Springfield community who need some assistance with the holidays this year, and lists will come out soon to address those needs.

Each classroom will have a wish list specific to that room for our adopted families, as well as your teacher's classroom wish list.  Please consider these lists, and if you are able to participate and shop for some of the items, we would very much appreciate your help.  All donated items will be collected during the week of Dec. 7-11 at a table in the entry, and in the morning car lines.

Something new to Field this year will be Wishing Stars!  There will be stars hanging over the collection table in the entry that have requests written on them.  Nothing on the wishing stars cost more than $10, and many of the items cost much less.  If you see a wishing star that you can purchase, simply pull that star down, take it with you shopping as a reminder, and deposit that item in the basket below the stars at your convenience during collection week.

Field is such a generous, caring community. Thank you so much for supporting Days of Sharing!
