DAYS OF SHARING
|
Days of Sharing will begin at Field during the week of November 16-20! Rather than having two weeks of collections in December, we will have one week in November to collect food and personal hygiene items, and a week in December to provide gifts and household items for the families adopted by Field. All items collected during the week of November 16-20 will provide for our adopted families, PTA clothes closet, Soul Food backpack program and Ozarks Food Harvest. We will have a theme for each day, but please feel free to bring in items at any time that is convenient for you. There will be a table at the school entrance to accept donations. Volunteers will also be available at the car line in the mornings to receive your donations from your car. If you prefer to make a monetary contribution, we would gratefully receive your donation. All money donated will be used to purchase underwear/socks, personal hygiene items, and/or food. Please make checks out to Field PTA, making a notation that your donation is for Days of Sharing. Checks can be turned in at the office. Thank you so much for your assistance in this worthy cause! The following is a breakdown of the collection days: Monday, November 16 - Underwear/socks, especially boxers and bikini underwear and no show socks, all sizes Tuesday, November 17 - Personal hygiene items, including kid's toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, kids shampoo and conditioner, etc. Wednesday, November 18 - Microwavable bowls of Chef Boyardee/Soup, 18 ounce jars of peanut butter, 5 ounce cans of pop-top tuna/tuna salad kits Thursday, November 19 - Individual cups of applesauce/mixed fruit/oranges, shelf stable snack pack pudding cups, individual serving size shelf stable Nestle or Horizon milk boxes Friday, November 20 - Pop tarts, Ramen packets, Saltines Questions? Please contact Ann Howard at bah3@mchsi.com.

VOTE NOVEMBER 3
|
Dear Field Parents,

On November 3, we have the opportunity to approve a no-tax-increase
bond that will, among other things, complete air conditioning in all
schools across this district. In the not-so-distant past, voters
approved a bond issue that allowed Field to add air conditioning. Now
it is our turn to step up and help other schools in the district that
are still operating without air conditioning.
Why should you support this issue?
Passage of this bond will fulfill the promise we made to students to air condition all schools.
We can take advantage of 5-7 million dollars of federal stimulus money
to fund air conditioning, construction and improvements and technology
that our children need.
This will provide quality learning environments for all students across the district.
Each bond project will create jobs and a demand for services and supplies thereby stimulating the local economy.
The annual amount of taxes we pay will NOT increase as a result of this bond.
All schools have received benefits from one or more of the bonds approved since 2000.
PROPOSED PROJECTS: AIR CONDITIONING Boyd, Robberson, Rountree, Sunshine, York, Jarrett, Reed, Phelps Center, and Tefft Center
CONSTRUCTION/IMPROVEMENTS Hillcrest, Westport, Hickory Hills, Jeffries, Glendale, and Kickapoo
TECHNOLOGY Every classroom will be equipped with an LCD projector and interactive whiteboard.
Aging student computers will be replaced as needed with N-computing units. _________
The passage of this bond requires 57% "yes" vote. It has been said that one generation plants a tree and the next generation reaps the shade. Join me on November 3 as I vote YES and "plant a tree" to provide adequate learning facilities for all the students who will gather beneath its branches, now and in the future.
Sincerely,
Michele Boswell Field Parent Secretary, Springfield Council of PTAs
