The "Friday Night Knit Club"
September Newsletter!
Greetings!

What beautiful weather we are enjoying right now! It was such a hot summer, that we are probably all rejoicing.  The cooler nights are  making me think about knitting warm socks, hats and fingerless mitts.

We are trying a some new things with our newsletter this time and hope you will enjoy them. One of my favorite things we added are the "Customer Profile." Hopefully it will inspire you, as well as make you laugh.

We will also be profiling the yarns that we carry. We will teach you a little bit about them, and give you ideas for projects where you can use them, including smaller one- or two-skein projects that will be perfect for gifts.

Speaking of yarn, stop by for a tour of new yarns! We have a lot of new ones, some of which Nancy has already designed some quick one-skein projects with.

Rock Out at Knitted Together!

No, we're not having a rock concert and we're also not talking about your favorite rock collection. What we are talking about is the KAL (knit-along) we just started. We are working on the beautiful Rock Island Shawl by Jared Flood. Every Tuesday evening from now through October we will meet from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Knitted Together to share our tips and tricks, as well as support and inspire everyone who would like to knit this shawl.  Once you have finished, you will experience a true sense of accomplishment, not to mention that you (or the person you knitted it for), will forever be known as the person with the prettiest shawl!

Stop by the shop to purchase either one skein of Mountain Colors Winter Lace Junior (or to check out other equally lovely yarns that will work for this shawl). Be sure to purchase your pattern from Ravelry. We started the KAL on Tuesday, September 6th, but don't worry. We can easily catch you up with all the important info when you buy the yarn.

As always, with a KAL, attendance is not mandatory, but if you need some knitterly-fellowship, you know when and where to find us!

Holiday to Holiday
It's a Path to Knits & Purls

Labor Day kicked off the "Fall/Winter Sweater Contest" ... we already have 5 people registered. If you missed the details, just visit our website or Nancy's blog. This contest is the 6th and final contest for this series. There is still plenty of time to find a pattern and get registered!

The following is the path we have traveled on this magnificent journey:

We've finished the first five Holidays with our Monster Birthday Bash, the Easter Shawl Contest, our Summer Sweater Contest for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July Baby Blanket Contest and the State Fair Parade Sock Contest. We will be finishing up on the other side of the lake with the Labor Day Fall/Winter Sweater Contest (we said it would be a path).

Customer Profile

Hello Everyone. Each month I will be filling this section of the newsletter with some very important and interesting information. What could be more important than the fibers we knit with, you ask? Why our friends at Knitted Together! The people who encourage us to try a new pattern, or a new yarn ... those who enable us to buy more yarn, those we meet at KALs who we have much in common with and yes, even those we have nothing in common with ... yet!

As I sit in the big comfy chair at Knitted Together and survey my surroundings, I wonder how a knitter chooses his or her yarn? Are we drawn to the texture and feel of the fibers? The colors? Does a particular pattern in your library draw you to a certain yarn section in our LYS (local yarn store)? Perhaps a new magazine or book or even a quirky button inspires you to restock your ever-diminishing stash of yarn. We all don't pick the same thing sowe must be a group of people with differing interests, like and dislikes.

Each month I will be introducing you to a Knitted Together patron. They have much to tell you abuot themselves, a favorite pattern or recipe, or perhaps they will dazzle us with all the projects they have waiting in the wings.

This month you will be learning a bit about me (sorry to disappoint, but we have to start somewhere). Click here to read my story. You will be redirected to Nancy's blog where we have LOTS OF SPACE TO FILL UP!

"FRIDAY NIGHT KNIT CLUB"

This month we are resuming the FNKC after the summer break. We have decided to change the date though. Be sure to save Friday night, September 30th for all the fun! We are planning a MODEL SALE with Mexican appetizers and Sangria for that night. We will provide all the details in the RSVP email. If you plan to come, be sure to respond to the RSVP!

WE ARE HAVING A MODEL SALE!

We have lots of knitted models that we no longer need for display in the shop. We thought it might be fun to give our customers an opportunity to purchase the models for themselves or for gifts. We will be offering them first at our next Friday Night Knit Club, so stay tuned for the RSVP email for more information!

We look forward to seeing you soon.

God bless,
from all of us at Knitted Together
