July Newsletter!
Greetings!

Wow! We can't believe that July 4th has come and gone. It already feels like summer is halfway over.  The next thing you know it will be time to think about Christmas. Speaking of Christmas, now is the time to get started on your projects for gifts!  If you need some ideas, stop by the shop and Nancy and her staff can help you find fun, simple projects your friends and family will love getting.

The winner of our Summer Sweater Contest is Marsha Duea. Marsha knitted the Featherweight Cardi out of Ella Rae Lace Merino. She won by two votes, so the more times you vote, the better your chance is. Remember that each person can vote three times (once in the shop, once on Nancy's blog, and once on Facebook), plus every time they make a purchase in the shop, they get an additional vote. The voter winner is Nichole McDowell. Nichole wins an instructional class of her choice.

We are planning to Yarn Bomb (a little artful decorating) in downtown Des Moines! We are looking for knitters and crocheters who are willing to join us by knitting or crocheting swatches of any size that we can use to "yarn bomb" in a small area on Locust Street at Iowa State Fair time. Knit and crochet as many pieces as you can, then drop them off at the shop by August 6th. If you have any questions, call Nancy at the shop.

Well, it's time to move on to the rest of the news.  We hope you enjoy the rest of the issue.

Holiday to Holiday
It's a Path to Knits & Purls

The 4th of July just kicked off the "Baby Blanket Contest" ... we have 8 people registered so far, but there is still time to enter.  If you missed the details, just visit our website or Nancy's blog

The following is the path we'll follow on this journey and it will be here each month to remind you of where we are and where we're going:

We've finished the first three Holidays with our Monster Birthday Bash, the Easter Shawl Contest and our Summer Sweater Contest for Memorial Day. Now it's down the hill for the Fourth of July Baby Blanket Contest!  Then it's through the corn field and out on main street is the State Fair Parade and then we'll finish this up on the other side of the lake with Labor Day (we said it would be a path).  Each of these celebrations will kick off another contest in the series and each will have a different theme.  But you're gonna have to stay connected, because you won't get the details for these contests until the week prior to the Holiday date.

NOW FOR A SPECIAL REWARD!

We are so pleased with the interest and excitement that has surrounded all of our contests so far!  So... for those of you who have participated (by knitting and turning it in for judging, NOT voting) we want to reward you for getting involved and staying connected to us.  If you have participated in AT LEAST ONE contest (by knitting and turning it in for judging, NOT voting) we are offering you a discount of 15% off your next regular price yarn purchase.  Here's how it will work:

It starts on July 15th.  You get 15% off of your next regular price yarn purchase (this does not include sale yarn and cannot be used to register for another contest).  And you get 15 days before this offer expires.

So print off this email and bring it in between July 15th and July 29th to get your reward.

July Classes ...
In June we had our first Beginning Crochet Class at the shop. The students had a blast together, and even made future plans to meet and crochet! Be sure to check out July Classes for the next Beginning Crochet Class. Get all the details for the upcoming classes on our WEBSITE! Then stop by the store to reserve your spot.

*NOTE:  Please call or stop by the store to register for classes as we do not take registration via e-mail and our website is not wired to handle this task.

"FRIDAY NIGHT KNIT CLUB"

This month we are hosting a baby shower "FNKC" on the 29th of July. To coincide with our Baby Blanket Contest we want to celebrate babies by helping those in need.  We will be asking you to join in by bringing a baby related donation as your admission to the FNKC.  Check your email that week for an RSVP and to get all of the details.  We can't wait to see you there!

The Dog Days of Summer Lead to New Yarns!

It's hot, humid, and everyone is busy enjoying vacations and relaxing indoors and out, depending on the weather. For us summer means we are meeting with all the sales reps and ordering new yarns for the fall/winter season. We have placed orders for lots of amazing yarn, including a few new lines, all of which will get everyone's finger's itching to knit. Watch for new yarns to start arriving soon!

July is still a great time for some special attention from Nancy as you pick out that new project.  See you soon.

God bless,
from all of us at Knitted Together
