Greetings!
After some cold drizzly weather in April, it appears as though spring is here as we're enjoying more consistent temps in the 60's. It does remain cool enough though, that one would still be reminded of why we love to knit with wool. Plus, if you haven't already discovered it ... Knitscene magazine, 2011 summer issue, has entertained us with a great article on the joys of summer knitting, the article is titled "Stitch and Seed: Summer's Bounties". Once again, we are reminded of the reasons why we never want to neglect our knitting due to summer activities ... as we always say, "busy and strenuous summer activities simply intensify our need to knit." **WARNING: Our store will CLOSE at 4pm on Tuesday, May 10th as Nancy will be attending the "Authors Visiting Des Moines", at Hoyt Sherman Place, sponsored by the Des Moines Public Library. Nancy and friends will be attending the pre-party, where she will get to meet Debbie Macomber (her favorite knitting author, who also wrote "Knit Together, discover God's pattern for your life"), and then hear Debbie book talk her new novel, "A Turn in the Road", another in the Blossom Street series. Thanks for understanding. Maybe our memory is getting shorter, but, it really seems like the Monster Birthday Bash Contest was one of the funniest and wackiest things we've ever done around here. You people are terrific, creative and definitely have wonderful sense of humor ... not to mention competitive. The winners were unveiled at the "FNKC" on April 29th ... but just in case you missed the announcement (also on Facebook and Nancy's blog), here are your winners: the best monster by popular vote is, #6 mama monster - created by Lisa Houchins ... Congratulations Lisa. To the rest of the contestants, we'd just like say thank you and we think all the monsters are winners as each one is truly a piece of needleart. Now for the winner of the "voters drawing" ... the prize goes to none other than everyone's favorite sock teacher, Rose Limke. Well, it's time to move on to the rest of the news, but first here are a few tips to look for. We included the entire section outlining our current rewards program as a reminder that it continues through May and June. Plus, if you love a good jewelry party, be sure to check out what's going on at the May "FNKC". We hope you enjoy the rest of the issue. |

Holiday to Holiday It's a Path to Knits & Purls
Easter just kicked off the "Shawl Contest" ... we have 19 people registered so far, but if you're a quick knitter there is still time to enter. If you missed the details, just visit our website or Nancy's blog ... while you're at Nancy's blog you should check out her Easter shawl. The following is the path we'll follow on this journey and it will be here each month to remind you of where we are and where we're going: We've finished the first Holiday with our Monster Birthday Bash, and the Easter Shawl Contest is in progress, around the corner is Memorial Day, down the hill is the Fourth of July, through the corn field and out on main street is the State Fair Parade and then we'll finish this up on the other side of the lake with Labor Day (we said it would be a path). Each of these celebrations will kick off another contest in the series and each will have a different theme. But you're gonna have to stay connected, because you won't get the details for these contests until the week prior to the Holiday date. We're so excited to have you over for the Holidays ... don't forget to keep checking the map :)

- Your receipt must be dated in the same month and year as the date of your purchase (ie: to use your receipt from a LYS to get a discount at Knitted Together in April 2011, your receipt must be dated in April 2011 ... same applies for May and June.).
- Your receipt must be from an in-store purchase and likewise can only be used in our store (no on-line purchases for this promotion).

Images ... having trouble viewing?
We would like to make
a few comments on images. If you are having trouble viewing this
e-mail or if it doesn't look great ... you may need to add us to your
safe sender list ... which will allow the images to download
automatically. Also, with the design and implementation of our
web-store, the e-mail format and Nancy's blog, we have found that
Mozilla Firefox web-browser seems to provide the most consistent
viewing experience. We tried to make everything compatible with as
many browsers as possible ... but somethings will never be perfect ...
these are just our suggestions.
We have also added a link at the top of the page to view our Web-Letter in a web browser. This could be extremely helpful if you are like Tim and have Microsoft Outlook 2007 for your e-mail program.

God bless, from all of us at Knitted Together
