December News ...
It's the CHRISTMAS
time of year!
Greetings!

This truly has to be our favorite time of year, the culmination of all the Holidays, as we come together and celebrate Emanuel ... God is with us.  It would certainly be easy to get caught up in the "hustle & bustle", the shopping burn out and the stress of so many unnecessary expectations and never really Relax and find Joy in just what this season of celebration has in store.  So come to our store on Friday December 17th and enjoy our first ever Christmas party.  Our Holiday Open House will start at 10am and feature fun foods made by Nancy, Tim and Megan and include gift giveaways throughout the day.  We'll also have coffee, wines, and as usual our warm fireplace and cozy seating.  All who are heavy with burdens, come take rest ... as we serve ... while you experience the Holy Days of Christmas.
Holiday Workshops!
Join us for our last Holiday Workshop on December 11th and learn how to make the "Chunky Alpaca Cowl" for a last minute gift for someone on your gift list.  Actually there are two more workshops, the December 18th workshop, may be the best bargain of the year.  For only a $10 registration fee, we will have an instructor on hand to help you get through any difficulties you may be experiencing as you try to finish the last of your knitted gifts.  Click Here to be redirected to our Holiday Workshop page where you can get all the information you need.

*NOTE:  Please call or stop by the store to register for classes as we do not take registration via e-mail and our website is not wired to handle this task.
The "Friday Night Knit Club"
is having a Christmas Party!

Please join us on Friday evening December 17th, at 6pm for our last FNKC of 2010, and enjoy a Christmas Party that you won't soon forget.  There is a lot of discussion regarding giving and receiving gifts around the Holidays, so here's our take on it.  We think it's only natural that one would want to give others whom they care about, the perfect gift for Christmas ... after all, isn't that what God did for us and we were created in His image.  So, throughout the evening we will be handing out some free gifts.  It's just our way of saying thank you as well as our vendors way of showing their appreciation.  But we don't want to be the only ones whose hearts are touched by giving, that's why we are also sharing that opportunity with you.  That's right, show up with a gift for a knitter and your name will be entered on a list for our gift exchange ... we'll make a cute game of it and everyone will have a great time, to be sure.  Now that means everyone who attends has a chance to leave with up to two gifts.  Stay tuned for more info on the party and PLEASE RSVP (regrets not necessary) so that we have an accurate gift count.

We can't wait to see you there.
The Mitten Tree Project!

"MITTEN TREE"

a project for women in need

The knitters in this community continue to prove that serving and sharing are foundational to knitting.  In fact, if we had to guess, we would say that at least 80% of all knitted items are for someone other than the knitter.  That truly fills our heart with joy.  This is why we are excited to ask you to once again partner with us to share love and bring hope to women in this community who desperately need to know that someone cares.

Our 2010/2011 Mitten Tree is a project to provide hand knitted mittens, scarves and hats for women at a battered women's shelter and Polk County's residential living center.  The items we donate will be distributed by our friends and partners at Family Directions of Iowa.  We are calling this a chance to "pay it forward", yet we at Knitted Together want to pay you back for your generosity.  For your generous donations through January 31st 2011, we will give you a 10% discount coupon to use when shopping in our store.  Here's how it works:

  • Knit mittens, scarves and hats (your choice).  Please make them gender specific as possible as they will be given to women.
  • Bring them to Knitted Together anytime from December 1st through January 31st 2011.
  • When you turn your item/items in, you will receive a coupon that will entitle you to 10% off your one time yarn purchase at Knitted Together.  Coupon is valid January 4th through February 26th 2011.
  • Feel free to attach a card or note along with your contribution, please don't include your last name.

You may contribute to the project as many times as you like, however, we can only offer ONE coupon per person for this promotion.  Here are a few more simple rules we ask you abide by.  Hand knitted, not store bought.  NO used items.  No duplicating of coupons.

Once again, we thank you for partnering with us.  Whether you call it "paying it forward" or as we have been sharing about "think global, act local" ... we think it's a win, win for everyone.

WOW, it makes sense to us and in fact we have had a few customers already tell us what a great promotion this is and how much they enjoyed the gift.

Images ... having trouble viewing?
We would like to make a few comments on images.  If you are having trouble viewing this e-mail or if it doesn't look great ... you may need to add us to your safe sender list ... which will allow the images to download automatically.  Also, with the design and implementation of our web-store, the e-mail format and Nancy's blog, we have found that Mozilla Firefox web-browser seems to provide the most consistent viewing experience.  We tried to make everything compatible with as many browsers as possible ... but somethings will never be perfect ... these are just our suggestions.

We have also added a link at the top of the page to view our Web-Letter in a web browser.  This could be extremely helpful if you are like Tim and have Microsoft Outlook 2007 for your e-mail program.
Christmas Caroling Knitted Together Style ...

Hark the Herold Angels Sing, It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, Angels We Have Heard On High, Silent Night, Oh Holy Night, Away In a Manger, The First Noel, Go Tell It On The Mountain, Joy To The World, Do You Hear What I Hear.  Wow, we hope you enjoyed it ... especially since you didn't actually have to hear us sing it.

Seriously though, we really hope that your Holiday Season is filled with the love, mercy and grace that only the God who holds the universes in His hands can give.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
