April's Classes ... sign-up now!
We always recommend visiting our Class List page frequently to see what's new on our schedule. We are working on several ideas for spring and summer and the following is the short list for starters. - TOE UP SOCK CLASS: Make a mini-sock that can be used as an
ornament or toddler's sock. You'll learn how to knit a sock starting
from the
toe and working your way to the cuff. In
this sock class you will work on larger needles and yarn, and you should
complete one sock in your class. There
are two 2-hour classes. Check the website for details.
- FINGERLESS MITS ON THE MAGIC LOOP: Are you a double-point phobic? Or
maybe you've heard of the "magic loop" and how fun it is but haven't
yet learned ... this class if for you. You'll learn to make a
fingerless mitt on a
40 inch circular needle. Once mastered, you can knit almost anything
with
the "magic loop" method. There are three, one and-a-half hour
classes.
You may have never thought of it before, but when your friends and co-workers are admiring your knitting, you could tell them about our Beginning Knitting classes and share the joy of knitting with others ... plus maybe they'll stop bugging you to knit those awesome garments for them. *NOTE: Please call or stop by the store to register for classes as we do not take registration via e-mail and our website is not wired to handle this task. |
The Friday Night Knit Club!
Our first ever "FNKC" event went off like a storm ... no literally it was a storm. We had about 50 people RSVP and 44 of them showed up ... and 6 1/2 inches of snow arrived as well (without an invitation). No one let the snow bother them at all and everyone had a great time. Thanks to everyone who brought good things to eat ... if you are one who brought something that was a homemade recipe (like the chocolate chip cheese ball or oreo truffles), we'd love to have the recipe if you're willing to share it with us. Someone mentioned that we should start a "FNKC" recipe book ... we like that idea.
The "FNKC" for April is scheduled for Friday night the 23rd. Once again, we have some fun ideas we're working on and we will share those with you in our "RSVP" web-letter in that week prior to the Friday night event. Watch for that reminder and we look forward to seeing you.

New Yarns ... Oh Yeah!
We couldn't resist the opportunity to share more really sweet yarns with you ... after all the whole point of education and classes is so you can enjoy all the amazing yarns we have to share with you. This spring season brings us some fresh "green" choices from Rowan. The R owan Purelife magazine features the Purelife recycled collection. You have to see these designs ... they look like they grew right out of an English countryside. 15 garments for women and men, designed by Marie Wallin using Rowan Revive. "Think clean, knit green" Rowan Purelife Revive: 36% recycled silk, 36% recycled cotton and 28% recycled viscose. I can't tell you how much we love this yarn. Rowan Summer Tweed: 70% silk and 30% cotton. This cotton blended yarn feels soooo good! Featured in Rowan magazine #47 knitting & crochet, the story is Kaffe's summer house. Textile artist Kaffe Fasset has designed a range of throws, cushions and hangings to compliment any stylish interior. All of the patterns and charts are available as free downloads from the Rowan website - www.knitrowan.com ... then come in the store to see the yarn. What's that you say ... you love FROU FROU yarns. So do we. That's why we have recently added Trendsetter Yarns to our collection. Now that's the way to add an artistic touch to any garment and really say who you are. By popular demand here are some of the lines we've added ... you'll have to come in to see the details ... or visit the website of course. Checkmate Joy Dune Crisantemo Minestrone |
Images ... having trouble viewing?
We would like to make
a few comments on images. If you are having trouble viewing this
e-mail or if it doesn't look great ... you may need to add us to your
safe sender list ... which will allow the images to download
automatically. Also, with the design and implementation of our
web-store, the e-mail format and Nancy's blog, we have found that
Mozilla Firefox web-browser seems to provide the most consistent
viewing experience. We tried to make everything compatible with as
many browsers as possible ... but somethings will never be perfect ...
these are just our suggestions.
We have also added a link at the top of the page to view our Web-Letter in a web browser. This could be extremely helpful if you are like Tim and have Microsoft Outlook 2007 for your e-mail program.
