All the hard facts on

Crush and Ribbon Glass Slabs!

ribbon glass slab 3

Due to the overwhelming response to Crush and Ribbon Glass Slabs, here are the technical aspects:

  • Recycled content from 30% to 100%- pre consumer recycled glass. Post-consumer glass is not ideal due to added coloring and labels. For the achieved aesthetics, it works best to start with clean and clear glass which is primarily brought in from sources outside the factory.
  • The standard thickness is 3cm and the usable finished size is 48"x144".
  • The slabs are shipped un-tempered.
  • Sink and facuet holes are cut by your local fabricator by a water jet machine. Your fabricator must have a blade that is designed for cutting glass. During manufacturing a small hole is cut at the location of your sink which serves as a starting point for your fabricator. A slightly eased edge is recommended.
  • Glass slabs have the inherent properties of glass. Yes, it can scratch, so use your cutting board and stay away from abrasive cleaners! Glass is naturally anti-microbial so germs can be easily whisked away by antibacterial cleaners.  Compared to natural stone, Architectural Glass Slabs are low maintainence.  You don't have to worry about cleaning that spilled lemon juice or red wine up immediately, the surface will not etch.
  • Will it chip? Of course, if you smash it with a hammer or drop a weight on it, it can chip.
  • As you can imagine, Crush and Ribbon Glass Slabs are the perfect candidate for commercial projects.
  • The three day firing process results in the uniqueness of each piece, no two are exactly the same.
  • The product can be delivered to your fabricator with a four week lead time once all details are confirmed.

  • Jewel is 83% recycled and has a smoother surface than solitaire created by finishing the surface with a clear piece of glass.
  • Net price: approx. $142 sq ft plus freight and fabrication.

Ribbon Glass Slabs:

  • Available in nine colors with 30% recycled content.
  • Waste pieces of new glass are cut into strips and coated with color, stacked, and then fused together by extreme heat.
  • Ribbon Glass Slabs have an organic look, lines are not always straight up and down, as the glass fuses it can tilt to one side (you can specify which way you want it to tilt!) creating a dramatic effect.
  • The ribbons of color extend all the way through the glass allowing light to come through which makes this the perfect product for that backlit wall or countertop you have been dreaming about!
