Issue No. 0912September 2012
Greetings!

That chill in the air tells us it is time for the season to begin! We look forward to the production of Romeo & Juliet by NC Shakes. This is truly a "Welcome Back!"

October will be here before we know it, and the kick off of the HPT Passport to Entertainment season will begin in full. Don't miss the amazing Cindy Williams in Nunset Boulevard or an opportunity to see two legends as Janice Ian and Tom Paxton perform together.

We have also added a couple of new opportunities: The US Air Force Heritage of America Band on November 14, and a Crossroads performance by Serena Ebhardt in a production entitled "In One Era and Out the Other" a retrospective look at the 20th century in song and story.

Two New Events Added to Theatre Calendar

The theatre is pleased to announce two new events have recently been added to our already exciting lineup for this fall...

AFBandPhotoCroppedThe US Air Force Heritage of America Band will return for a free community concert on Wednesday evening, November 14, at 7:30 PM. Although the event is free, tickets will be required for admission and you, our E-newsletter subscribers, are being given the opportunity to obtain your tickets before the general public.

There is a limit of 4 tickets per order, available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tickets may be obtained in person at the Theatre box office during regular business hours (Mon-Fri, 12 noon to 5 PM) or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Tickets: U.S.A.F. Heritage of America Concert Band, c/o HP Theatre Box Office, 220 E. Commerce Ave., High Point, NC 27260. Please note tickets will not be available by phone or online.

 Serena Ebhardt

In One Era and Out The Other: A Patriotic Look at the United States from 1901 to 2001, will follow on Thursday evening, November 15, at 7:30 PM. Singer, actress, director, producer and co-founder of Apex, NC-based EbzB Productions, Serena Ebhardt, will bring her one-woman show to the High Point Theatre as part of the Theatre's Carolina Crossroads series, a celebration of music and theatre by some of North Carolina's most gifted artists.

Using headlines, politics, protests, scandals, sports, natural disasters, and popular culture, Ebhardt reveals how Americans come together in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness when they stand united. This one-woman, musical cabaret mixes familiar songbook standards with the momentous events that shaped America's 20th century, while accompanied by a multi-media presentation of saturated images. Culminating with the September 11, 2001 attack on America, she refocuses on the future with humor and hope.
