Senate Passes Historic Health Reform Legislation

Aprill

The U.S. Senate voted 60-39 early this morning to pass historic legislation to reform our nation's health care system.  The vote comes after months of political wrangling and protracted debate over one of  President Obama's top domestic priorities and a goal that has alluded past Democratic administrations for decades.  The Senate now stands adjourned and will return in early 2010 to begin negotiations with the U.S. House of Representatives.  The goal is to reconcile differences between the two chambers' bills and send a final health reform package to the President's desk for his signature before the State of the Union speech.  To view the full text of the Senate bill, go to the Majority Leader's web site.

CDHP's health reform updates will take a brief hiatus for the holidays and will resume publication in the week of January 3rd.  Happy New Year to all from the team at CDHP!
