Greetings!

Spring is here and Chico Performances is ready with a variety of fun-filled events that will entertain and exercise your mind.

From the classic rock 'n' roll of David Crosby and Graham Nash to the world fusion of Béla Fleck, Zakir Hussain and Edgar Meyer, the music of the month is nothing short of diverse. We will also be treated to the mindful mysteries of Spencers Theatre of Illusion, the thought-provoking humor of Paula Poundstone and the environmentally educational true-life story of William Kamkwamba, author of the 2010-2011 Book in Common The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind.

In addition to our great April events, be sure not to miss our photo gallery. Check out photos from an open rehearsal with the 5 Browns, behind the scenes shots with Väsen, personal moments with Maya Angelou and the Field Trip and media night performances of Keeping Dance Alive!

See you at the theater!

The Book in Common for 2010-2011 academic year is The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, by William Kamkwamba. The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is phenomenal story of perseverance and commitment to helping others. It is set in Malawi, an African nation that is one of the poorest in the world. The story recounts the author's coming of age in rural Malawi and his struggles to attend school and survive in the difficult, but emotionally rich, life of rural Africa.
