Igudesman & Joo Saturday, October 10, 2009 Laxson Auditorium | 7:30 p.m. $23 Premium | $18 Adult | $16 Senior | $14 Student/Child
|
What Penn and Teller are to magic, Igudesman & Joo are to music.
They're highly trained classical musicians, but they're also crazily
inspired comics. Playing violin and piano, this marriage of music and
humor defies categorization. It's a performance full of musical
virtuosity and zany, outrageous humor. If you thought Victor Borge was
a hoot at his piano, you'll love the loony antics of Igudesman and Joo
Igudesman & Joo is pronounced as "A-good-es-men & Jew"

Yamato Taiko
|
Tuesday, October 13, 2009 Laxson Auditorium | 7:30 p.m. $28 Premium | $23 Adult | $21 Senior | $16 Student/Child
This Japanese troupe of 10 drummers combines a sense of drama and
strong percussion, producing the most "physical" form of music - Taiko
drumming. Using instruments such as the huge kettledrum, the side drum,
and the tambour, Yamato's drumming ranges from the delicate patter of
raindrops to hammered-out rolling thunder to a slowed-down heartbeat.
Yamato combines drums with the timpani, the flute, and colorful,
authentic Japanese costumes for an evening of highly charged rhythm.
