Join Chico Performances as we celebrate the 16th annual Chico World Music Festival Saturday & Sunday, Sept. 19 and 20. All music and activities start at 11 a.m. on the Kendall Hall Lawns at Chico State, and are FREE. The Chico World Music Festival is presented by Chico Performances, the City of Chico, and CSU, Chico.

A kick-off performance by Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis is scheduled for Friday evening, Sept. 18, in Laxson Auditorium (tickets required).

Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra
with Wynton Marsalis
Wynton MarsalisKicking off the 16th annual Chico World Music Festival will be the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, performing on Friday, Sept. 18 in Laxson Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra's 15 jazz soloists, along with trumpeter and musical director Wynton Marsalis, draw from a repertoire that includes original compositions and masterworks by Ellington, Mingus, and Coltrane, and others. An extraordinarily versatile orchestra, the JLCO has been called "the greatest large jazz ensemble working today" by the Chicago Tribune. Marsalis, a driving force behind the Orchestra, is a nine-time Grammy Award winner.
