9/11 Days of Service (Hands On Atlanta Day)

Hands On Atlanta's 9/11 Days of Service were recently held the weekend of September 8-11 and replaced Hands On Atlanta Day which is typically held the first Saturday in October.
Throughout the weekend, more than 12,000 volunteers over Metro Atlanta rolled up their sleeves and got involved in a multitude of projects that helped area communities and nonprofit organizations. At enAble's headquarters in Roswell, we had close to 150 volunteers engaged in everything from repainting the lines in our parking lots, replacing the wooden slats on the deck at our side entrance/exit, and building/repairing picnic tables so that those we serve may eat outside weather permitting. Every task that each volunteer participated in was meaningful to us at enAble.

Charlene B. |
enAble of Georgia Foundation's third Summer Wine Auction was held on Wednesday, July 25 at the Ann Jackson Gallery on Canton Street in downtown Roswell. It was a warm, intimate evening filled with exciting auction packages, exquisite food, and wonderful company that gathered for an honorable purpose. Our net proceeds were more than $37,000 thanks to some very generous people. We appreciate everyone who donated their time, talent, and treasure to making this a successful endeavor.

enAble provides care for the people we serve throughout their entire adult life span. Many of the individuals often have other chronic health problems such as diabetes, seizure disorders, kidney failure, or heart disease. The individuals' needs are great, and to support them properly takes a significant amount of financial resources and human compassion. Receiving good medical and dental care has transformed the lives of many of those we support. Without you, we wouldn't be able to continue providing the best possible services to the people we serve. Thank you.

Person Served Spotlight
Abbie Briggs is a busy woman. She's one of the newest employees at Accent Décor, Inc. and maintains a position as part of enAble's Soap & Bubbles mobile work crew as a Day Porter. Margaret Hofland, Creative and Marketing Director at Accent Décor and an enAble Board Member, approached us early this year about employing one of the individuals we serve. Amy Vergith, Support Manager of Day & Employment Services at our Roswell office, thought Abbie would be a perfect fit for the position and highly recommended her.

Employee of the Month: June, July & August
June - Edith Bass has worked for enAble since 2007 and has shown incredible leadership skills at our Dixie Lake Group Home. Edith identifies and suggests alternative approaches for addressing the specific medical support needs of the individuals served.
July - Marion Hillman has been with enAble for 7 years. She's a Lead for our Community Living Support Services program. Marion is dedicated to the health and wellness of the people we serve, so much so that she has researched and interviewed numerous physicians for the individuals to ensure they are comfortable with their care.
August - Mourad Sorial has completed three years of employment with enAble. He does everything out of love, and stands true to his beliefs without fear or consequence that he acts out of love on behalf of the people he serves in the Roswell Day Services center. The examples of how Mourad exudes love through his work are endless.
We're so proud and fortunate to have them as part of our enAble team. Click here to read more great things about Edith, Marion, and Mourad.

What a fun evening! In just two hours, 37 artists of varying abilities cranked out their acrylic-on-canvas interpretations of a 3-olive martini. Want to Volunteer? enAble Can Help!

Office Work
Frequently, we need
administrative assistance for tasks such as filing, mailings, brochure assembly, etc. Whether you want to share your skills once a week, once a month, or just on occasion, please consider supporting us in this important way.
Service Hours
Do you know a student seeking service hours? Many schools and universities require their students to complete community service hours each year. enAble is a great place to complete those hours while making a difference in the life of a person with special needs. (Those under age 18 require a volunteer to provide adult supervision.)

enAble's Toyota
"100 Cars for Good"
Contest Results | |

Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for enAble on Facebook on Monday, August 8 in hopes of us winning an accessible van in Toyota's "100 Cars for Good" Campaign. While we didn't win a van, we're glad for the visibility and the chance to compete that day with four other worthy nonprofits. We also received nice gifts of $1,000 and a Flip video camera just for being a contest participant.
There were people who didn't have a Facebook account but created one just to vote and show their support. enAble has some of the most loyal supporters anywhere, and we appreciate all of you!
