A Message from Our Executive Director

Cec Camp, June 20, 2011

Cec Camp

Dear Friends,

Summer is officially here and it's that time of year when families gather for that special vacation or reunion. It's also a time when family ties are renewed and strengthened, creating memories that will be talked about for a lifetime.

Speaking of families, enAble is so fortunate to have many loving and caring families involved every day of the year. They not only care about their loved one, but everyone at enAble, and it is shown in many ways. Their love is shown by the special dinner and cake that are brought in to include everyone in the celebration of someone's birthday. It is shown by the gifts given to everyone at the homes during the holidays. It is shown by those family members who volunteer as enAble Board Members or for other agency projects year after year. And their love is shown by the hugs given to everyone when they visit the homes or Day Service centers.

While the list of what families do for us is endless, I want to take this opportunity to share with you what a few did recently to help everyone at enAble.

enAble at "GA Walks Now for Autism Speaks"

GA Walks for Autism Speaks
On Sunday, May 22 at the International Plaza of the Georgia World Congress Center, thousands of people turned out in support of "Georgia Walks Now for Autism Speaks." Autism Speaks is an organization dedicated to increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders, funding research into the causes, prevention and treatments for autism, and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. The event helped increase autism awareness, advocacy, family services, and research efforts.

enAble hosted an information table at the event, as several individuals we serve have autism. Our Executive Director, Cec Camp, Development Director, Dean Jordan, and Development Assistant, Lindsey Yeager, connected with professionals and family members across Georgia. This wonderful event was held in partnership with the Marcus Autism Center.
