17th Annual enAble Golf Classic Highlights

The 17^th Annual enAble Golf Classic was recently held at the Alpharetta Athletic Club amid wonderful weather and a host of golfers and volunteers ready to support a worthy cause. There were many highlights of this tournament that ran from approximately 11:00-4:00.

National Direct Support Professional

Recognition Week, Sept. 12-18

On June 16, 2010, the U.S. Senate approved Resolution 558, which designated the week beginning September 12, 2010, as "National Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week." The resolution outlines the vital role of DSPs, as well as the present issues of high turnover rates and low wages, and especially the need to attract more DSPs to the workforce who are seeking careers.

Corporate Sponsor Spotlight - UPS

What Can Brown Do for You?

Every day, UPS links millions of organizations and individuals together by delivering an average of 15 million packages and documents in more than 220 countries and territories. On October 2, UPS linked more than 50 of their employees to enAble during the 20th Annual Hands on Atlanta Day. The volunteers completed several needed landscaping projects at our Roswell office, painted the fence around our bocce ball court for the individuals we serve, and helped in a variety of other ways.

Person Served Spotlight - Robert Aldridge

Robert Aldridge had lived in an institution for six years before coming to enAble in 1996. Unfortunately in 2006, he experienced difficulty eating and required a feeding tube, which required him to leave enAble to receive care in a nursing home. In 2008, another person from enAble was admitted to the same nursing home for a short period for rehabilitation. When staff visited that individual, they found that Robert was still there but did not have a feeding tube.

Call for 2011 GALA Volunteers

We are in need of volunteers who can serve on our 23rd Annual GALA Host Committee on the following Sub-Committees: Auction, Publicity, and Sponsorships. We also seek individuals as event night volunteers who will not be attending as guests. This role is perfect for college students who seek a meaningful, exciting volunteer experience.
