Health Services

RSVP is currently seeking health service professionals to volunteer their time with the Health/Dental Clinics of Senior Friendship Centers in Sarasota and Venice.  Doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, medical aides and alternative healthcare providers are needed to continue the important services these clinics provide for the low income population in our community.  4 hours of your time a week could mean lifesaving services for someone.

Senior Nutrition

Adequate nutrition is especially important as we age and become more vulnerable to chronic disease and less able to live independently. Senior Friendship Centers provide hot, nutritious meals at two centers or deliver to 660+ homebound individuals. Both programs are in need of volunteer drivers for home delivered meals, kitchen aides and host/hostesses at our dining sites. Just a few hours a week can mean a great deal to the health and well-being of our seniors in the community.

Veteran's Support and Welfare

Senior Friendship Centers will offer three new programs for veterans.  RSVP volunteers will work as group leaders in veterans support groups or directly with veterans participating in the SFC's Caregiver Resources Centers.  Volunteers can also train as class leaders to teach in a caregivers' support program called "Powerful Tools".  Many different ways for you to help our veterans!

Job Development

RSVP Sarasota is partnering with CareerEdge, a nonprofit focusing on retraining and retooling the unemployed in Sarasota County. Use your experience and life skills to mentor CareerEdge clients to find new opportunities in employment.

Childhood Obesity

Childhood obesity has more than tripled in the past 30 years. Healthy lifestyle habits, including healthy eating and physical activity, can lower the risk of becoming obese and developing related diseases.  RSVP volunteers will help local organizations reach out to more than 500 children to teach them the value of healthy eating and physical exercise. Join us!

Sarasota's Nonprofit Community

RSVP Sarasota is working directly with ten nonprofits in the county to help address the community's critical needs. Faced with budgetary restrictions, increased need for service and reduced staff, these organizations will be able to continue their efforts with the help of RSVP. Mentoring, tutoring, patient care, animal care, environmental stewardship are just some of the available opportunities. Call us to find out where the need is!
