Each box is wrapped in your designed image or favorite fabric and has a black ribbon inside for easy access.

These boxes are available to fit all Tuscany, Echo, Mosaic, Glacier Albums and all Photo Book sizes. You could even choose to use them as a unique keepsake storage box.     Photo Boxes are available in the Black River Imaging Software in the Press Catalog and must be ordered separately from your Album or Book. If you need to know the exact alignments for text placement we highly recommend downloading our Photoshop templates located on our website. You'll find them by clicking on The Learning Center link.

 Make a
Resolution Resolution

 I know there's
plenty to think about when shooting digital. Things like white balance,
exposure and depth of field are always floating around up there in our
heads while we fire away. Now with camera manufacturers introducing
21+MP cameras I want to give you one more thing to add to the mix...
RESOLUTION.

The resolution in your camera in
determined by the number of vertical and horizontal pixels on your
camera's sensor. Until you know what size print you will be making DPI
is not important. In fact when printing photographic and press
printed products it's best to consider the number of pixels and file
size you are working with when determining a good print quality instead
of just looking at DPI.

Here are a few guidelines that will help
you get the best print quality from your images without going overboard
on file size (which causes outrageous upload times).

For example, when uploading to See My Prints you want to make your
files as small as possible without sacrificing print quality for the
size of print you are offering. For prints that are 8x10 and smaller you
should resize all of your images to 2000 pixels on the long edge and
save them at a level 9 JPG quality (set quality to 80 in Lightroom). If
you want to offer prints larger than 8x10 then resize to 3600 pixels on
the long edge and save them at a level 10 JPG quality (set quality to 90
in Lightroom). I don't recommend this for uploads with more than 100
images. It would be better to upload the smaller images and turn on the
"Print Delay". This will allow you five days to replace the small files
with large ones once an order is placed.

 To resize
in Lightroom you can set the resizing option for long edge pixels. This
option is available in the 'Export Image' settings. Resizing in
Photoshop can be a little trickier since Photoshop can't resize by the
number of pixels on the long edge when batch processing. I recommend
creating an action that can resize your files in percentages according
to the original file size.

For album building of 8x8 books and larger
in Photoshop you should start with a 6000 pixel wide file if you are
building a pano spread.  Start with a 3000 pixel wide file if you are
building a single page.

For album building smaller than 8x8 book
you should start with a 4000 pixel wide file for pano spreads and a 2000
pixel wide file for single pages.

 Save your
album layouts as level 10 JPGs for maximum print quality without bogging
 down your upload speed.

For print orders you can use this chart
for maximum upload speed per print size ordered. Download chart here.

 Keep in
mind that we have a 25mb cut off for prints so anything over 25mb will
not improve the quality of your print and will only slow down the upload
time. In fact, increasing the resolution of an image by increasing the
DPI can actually decrease the overall quality of the print. You should
never make a file bigger than what the camera originally produced.

You can check the size of your image by opening it in Photoshop and
clicking on "Image" and "Image Size". The number at the top of the new
window next to "Pixel Dimensions" will be the actual file size of the
image.

Now you have one more thing to consider
when shooting and editing your digital files. By controlling your
resolution you can greatly improve your workflow and decrease your
upload time making it easier to get those order in on time without tying
 up the computer.

Keep your finger on the button.
