We've got yet another great way to display prints! Float Mounts are a sleek and sophisticated way to display images that appear to float out from the wall. This effect is created by taking a print, wrapping it around a padded board and placing a inch hidden gatorboard on the back.

Choose from a Luster or Metallic photographic print or Canvas print. For added protection Canvas Float Mounts come with a Satin Laminate. Luster and Metallic come with a Matte Laminate. Float Mounts come ready to hang.

Float Mounts are found in our Imaging software inside the fine art products catalog.

Float Mounts are available in the Black River Imaging Software in the Fine Art Products catalog.

Preventing SportsPix Headaches

SportsPix is a fast and convenient way to order your sports and events packages. However, depending on which version of Windows is being used, or if not installed correctly, your experience could be a less than fun.

Here are some tips on starting off right with BRI's SportsPix software.

  • Downloading - When downloading SportsPix it is best to use the Save option and save the setup file to your desktop or another easily accessed location. Before running the sportspix.exe setup file, be sure to close any other programs, especially your Internet browser or e-mail programs. In addition to this, you may want to temporarily shut off any anti-virus software during installation to prevent errors while files are being written to your hard drive.
  • Install Location - Customers who are running Windows 7 or Vista may run into some problems if the program is installed into the default "C:\PPrgoram Files\SportsPix" folder. This is caused by a security feature that prevents certain file types from being created or modified within the Program Files folder. In this case, create a SportsPix folder under the user folder in Windows such as "C:\Users\<username>\SportsPix".  When you are prompted for the installation location by the setup program, choose the new folder that you just created.
  • Setting the Storage Location - Once again, if you are using Windows 7 or Vista, it is best to set your data storage path to the same folder that was created for the program installation. To set the storage location, click the Edit menu in SportsPix and select Set Path for Storing Orders. Under your SportsPix folder, select Database as a good default location for your orders and work order information. This folder should be used for program data only and should not be used to store your images.
  • Images - Images need to be in JPEG format and sRGB colorspace. It is recommended that images for SportsPix are stored on your local hard drive or external hard drive. It is NOT recommended to use images directly from a removable media such as CD, DVD, card reader or direct camera connection. When naming your files and folders, do not use any special characters in the names. Below are examples of characters that should not be used:

SPECIAL CHARACTERS THAT SHOULD NOT BE USED

These characters should also not be used when creating your Group Identifiers in the Order Data step of SportsPix.

If you rename your image files, keep the length of the name to 16 characters or less. To speed up the process of ordering, only include images in the folder that you are going to order from.

It is also worth considering the file size of your images when preparing your order. With the high resolutions of today's DSLR's, many photographers will try to send the largest file size possible. While you may still want to send a higher resolution image for your group images, your individual images only need to be about 3000 pixels on the longest edge. Another option to consider is to save your images at a level "10" JPEG quality as opposed to a level "12." This will greatly reduce the file size with no visible drop in image quality, which in turn, will reduce transfer times for images.
  • Order transmission - To be sure that your orders transmit with minimal problems, try not to connect wirelessly using a broadband card or via a wireless connection to your router/modem. Wireless signals are great for surfing the Internet but they are too unstable for large data transfers as many other wireless signals can cause interference.
Also, be sure to add the current installation of SportsPix to your computer or network firewall as a trusted program (sometimes referred to as an "exception").  This may have to be done whenever the software is re-installed for any reason.

An additional security feature in Windows 7 and Vista that will cause connection issues is called User Account Control (UAC). This cam be turned off in Windows Vista under the User Accounts section of the Window's Control Panel. In Windows 7 a slider bar is represents the UAC level, and this can be set to the lowest level for problem-free transmissions.
