Greetings!
It is summertime here in North America. Summer is my favourite time of year. There are many things about summer I love including family BBQ's, hanging out at the beach, cocktails on patios with my favourite gal pals, cruising in the convertible as I crank some of my favourite country tunes ( yes country tunes! :) and this year I have another special event to add to the summer fun - Kenny's birthday - July 2nd he turned one!
We headed to Osoyoos (known as the desert of British Columbia) to celebrate Kenneth's first birthday with family.
During our mini holiday it reminded me of the many benefits of unplugging from our day to day responsibilities and being fully present to experiences that make your heart sing. Summer is a great time to fully unplug either through a vacation or simply treating yourself to a day of being away from your daily routine. Do you live in the Vancouver area? There are a couple of extraordinary opportunities this summer to unplug and plug into what I refer to as your greater wisdom.  We live in a world where we're expected to be available all the time for almost any reason. Worse, we expect it from ourselves. With easy access to technology 24/7, being accessible has become a way of life. According to the 2010 iPass Mobile Workforce Report, over 94% of workers do not completely unplug while on vacation.
How many of those people do you think are risking a total burn out?

Before we explore unplugging strategies it is equally, if not more, important to make a mental shift. Focus on "why" you want to have a "work free" holiday and the how will naturally follow.
