Yavneh Academy is excited to announce a new way for everyone to earn money for our school.
You can now shop at Amazon.com, BN.com (Barnes & Noble) and BestBuy.com through the new Yavneh Academy shopping website. Every dollar you spend will result in commission paid to the school. (On average Yavneh earns 5% of your purchase.)
It costs you nothing. Just by shopping at these sites, using Yavneh's links, the school earns commissions!
Trickle down economics at work! The more you, your parents, your extended family, and friends use this shopping website, the more Yavneh earns. Spread the word! Again, it does not cost you anything!
It takes so little time to raise money for Yavneh and you can do it anytime, anywhere. It's that easy!

STOCK MARKET GAME WINNERS
Yavneh Academy placed FIRST in this year's fall Stock Market Game.
The seventh grade winning team of Pamela Abraham, Avery Penn, Rebecca Weinberger, Captain Binyamin Novetsky, and their coach, Mr. Howard Goldberg, attended a luncheon for the winners this week at the Pershing Center in Jersey City, where they presented their award winning investment strategy.
The children turned $100,000 into $117,200 in 10 short weeks. Their key winning companies of Hertz and RSC Holdings propelled them into first place out of 300 competing teams from schools across NJ.
All children in grade 7 spend many weeks in math class learning about the economy and the stock market including terms such as dividends, commission, and short selling. This is reviewed as their stock holdings are analyzed by teachers during the ten week game.

In art class, the fifth graders created mandalas using their names. In Sanskrit, the word mandala means "circle," and in art it is a symbol of unity and harmony because they often exhibit radial symmetry and balance. Some students chose to disguise their names with intricate patterns while other names are more clearly identifiable.

ECD BAKE SALE
Yavneh's Second Annual Bake Sale was a huge success! This year's sale was dedicated to the memory of our beloved Yavneh teacher, Morah Beth Isaacs, A"H. The proceeds, an awesome $638.50, will be donated to Sharsheret, an organization very dear to Morah Beth that supports Jewish women and families facing breast cancer and ovarian cancer. We are so proud of our Early Childhood students and teachers for doing such an amazing job!

My name is Stephanie Appelbaum, and I am in fifth grade. For my Bat Mitzvah chesed project, I am collecting art supplies for ArtWorks (www.artworksfoundation.org). This organization provides children and young adults suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses, and their siblings, access to creative and performing arts programs. I am working with the Surprise!Supplies part of the program which delivers art supplies in colorful boxes and carts to kids while they are in the hospital for treatment. The art supplies help kids keep busy and happy while in the hospital.
ArtWorks needs donations of coloring books, glitter glue, watercolors, model magic, individual craft kits and boxes of crayons, markers and colored pencils. All items must be new, unopened, and non-toxic.
Please help make my project a success by placing your donation in the specially marked box outside of the education office. Thank you for your support. |
