Comparison Shopping and
Perfusion Services Companies

A CHECKLIST YOU CAN'T AFFORDTO BE WITHOUT!

By Ralph E. Jordan, Founder & CEO

As a culture, we like to comparison shop.  There's nothing that makes a buyer feel happier about his purchase than having done his homework, knowing he got a good deal. in the end  And a good "deal" doesn't always mean cheapest price.... it's about comparing benefits and features alongside price - and this is as individualized as one's perception of "good" and their definition of "value".

Want a new car?  Most people want to know the Consumer Reports' ratings on manufacturers and models.  You talk with your friends and those who drive the same type of car of your interest.  You become educated.  Nowadays, you can go onto websites and do a side-by-side comparison of each feature for car shopping.  Same for many technologies - cell phones, computers.  It only makes sense to compareAnd even the little things... for some of us really into comparison shopping, we don't mind driving just a little farther to make sure we save 3 cents a gallon at the gas station, even if it is a little out of the way.

So what about perfusion services companies?  When a hospital is ready to outsource, what features and benefits should they compare?  What questions should they ask?  Who are the competitors?  We, at Trident think we can help with that.   We sat down to determine there are pretty much four categories of outsourcing perfusion services companies that we consider our competitors: (a) small regional companies, (b) surgeon-owned companies,  (c) large multiservices companies, and (d) US!  We made a list of questions hospitals should ask when considering a new perfusion program or changing from an inhouse arrangement or changing vendors.  And so, here it is, a link to a printable version of

Happy Labor Day

A little trivia for you:  If you're into fashion, one of the rules of the trade is you can't wear white after Labor Day.  For history buffs interested in how this trend came to be associated with Labor Day specifically, there's a great piece Time Magazine wrote a couple of years ago that's pretty interesting....IF YOU MUST KNOW: Why We Shouldn't Wear White After After Labor Day

Just so you know, it's not because you might get BBQ sauce on yourself!  Wishing you all a Happy Holiday Weekend!

By Ralph E. Jordan, Founder & CEO

Trident Health Resources, Inc.

Traditionally, Trident Health Resources, Inc. hires perfusionists who have 3-5 years or more experience.  Lately, we've gotten an influx of young applicants just out of school. And the traditions of our field carry onward to new generations.... And we're open to helping those starting out get the help they need in career with training and opportunities that best fit what they're seeking.  (By the way, our sister website, PerfusionCommunity.com lists all the local job openings for perfusionists we can find on the net, so check it out!)

We'd like put our thumb on the marketplace and changing demographics of our pool of perfusionist candidates and we'll be posting some interesting data about perfusion students, schools, and trends in the millennial generation (those aged 18 to 30) on  Trident's Blog within the next month.  Follow us there!  Your comments are always welcomed!

Meanwhile, we'd like to hear from employers, supervisors and new recruits, too.... what are the new trends with young perfusionists just starting out?  TAKE TRIDENT'S POLL - Click HERE - Just a few questions as conversation starters... more to follow in a future edition of THE HEARTBEAT!
