2010 National Survey
on Perfusionist Locum Tenens Staffing Trends

As Trident Health Resources, Inc. expands into new markets, it's important that we explore some of the trends within the changing landscape of perfusion staffing. In the past year, I've read dozens of industry and general health care reports about the new Obama plan and the impact it will have on our profession in the future. It is noteworthy that the growing needs of the baby boomer generation feature strongly in what lies ahead for perfusionist employment and opportunities. Advancing technologies and surgical procedures are another important precursor to predicting the future of the industry.
But where are we today really? Where are we going? What is the experience of hospitals with regard to perfusion locum tenens staffing usage that can help us know where we need to be in the future?
These are compelling questions to which we can speculate answers. But more than that, we need data that comes direct from the source - hospitals that do open heart surgery. As such, we are setting out to collect valuable information to gauge the trends in perfusion locums staffing for 2010 through the next several years. This summer, we'll be reaching out to hospital managers for their participation in a short survey. Results will be published in a report (and available to survey participants at no charge). The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete electronically and is accessible online.
