ASTPHND seeking representative for National Council on Folic Acid Steering Committee

ASTPHND is looking for a representative to serve on the National Council on Folic Acid Steering Committee. The National Council on Folic Acid (NCFA) is a coalition of over 60 national organizations and associations, state folic acid councils and government agencies whose mission is to improve health by promoting the benefits and consumption of folic acid.

ASTPHND provides a unique science-based food and nutrition perspective on NCFA.

Suzanne Haydu from California has represented ASTPHND on this steering committee for the past few years. Now that she is Chair of the MCH Nutrition Council within ASTPHND, she wants to pass along this opportunity to another ASTPHND member. Suzanne will provide an orientation and pertinent materials to the new liaison.

Time Commitment: Most meetings are by conference call for 1 hour every two months. The ASTPHND representative would have to travel to one NCFA meeting every year, and ASTPHND covers all the costs to attending this meeting on behalf of the association.

Immediate Responsibility:Attend the next NCFA Steering Committee conference call on September 10, 2 PM (ET).

On-going Responsibilities: Provide regular updates (minutes from each meeting) to the ASTPHND Board of Directors. Provide updates to NCFA about ASTPHND if requested.

It is that time of the year again, time for ASTPHND to conduct the annual member training needs assessment. The response rate was down last year and we need to improve. This assessment is critical as it informs us of your training needs and ways to improve our member services. Our ASTPHND annual meeting sessions and speakers are based on the results of this survey. We need all members; seasoned veterans, leadership, and new members, to take less than 15 minutes to thoroughly complete the assessment. Watch your emails this September for our request. The survey will be conducted as in years past using Survey Monkey.

This year we will put all the names of the participants in a hat and select one participant to receive a gift card so please complete the survey!
