By Andrea Landart

What is unique about my private duty practice?

Everything I would say. As I began to work in France as the one and only Christian Science nurse, there was nothing except,"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding" that was guiding me. And the Lord was truly directing my path all the way until I became listed in The Christian Science Journal.

Private duty practice is for me nothing less than caring for a beloved family member. You forget yourself and do whatever you can with unselfish love, in true brotherliness, charitableness and forgiveness. As you are the only Christian Science nurse on the shift, you cannot count on somebody else to help you if you think you cannot deal with the case. You need to trust your demonstrable knowledge of Christian Science practice, which I think is the basis of pure Christian Science nursing. You can learn a lot of skills, follow several trainings and still feel helpless in some situations. Divine inspiration only, must be and is the key that opens every door, brings useful ideas and gives you dominion over so-called insurmountable human situations.

Private duty practice is an everyday challenge that gives you the opportunity for spiritual growth and to "trust in the Lord with all thine heart". For that I love and cherish it.
