Dr. Hubert Morquette helping earthquake victim
Just a quick update to let you know we have made contact with Dr. Morquette at King's Hospital and this is a summary of our conversation:
- All are fine and extremely busy
- Dr. and Mrs. Alexander are doing fine
- Dr. Walwel (Hospital of Peace) is fine and his hospital is busy too, Dr. Morquette did surgery last evening on Mme. Walwel for an open wound and fracture, doing well
- He ask that we send medical teams and supplies (see below)
- If you are a volunteer please email our office service@lumiereministries.com with dates of availability, contact info, specialty, advise if passport is valid, and credentials current. Also, do you have access to medical supplies
- URGENT needs for Orthopedic Surgeons
- URGENT needs for anesthesia and anesthesiologist
- Analgesics
- Anti-Biotics
- Gauze!!! and related tapes, bandages
We lost contact at this point in our discussion, but we will continue our efforts. Hopefully now we will be able to begin coordinating follow-on trips, shipments.
Please understand the first few teams will work under some pretty difficult situations; sleeping outside under the stars, in a corner of the hospital, I am told food is available, but little variety. I think you get the picture. Mickey Stokes, our Director of Logistics, will lead the first team down on the 21st. Once he is in place we hope to provide you with better information.
Please continue to pray for the people of Haiti and our volunteers.
In Christ,
Hank Haskins
