| Dear Friends,
We are praising God for His continuing blessings upon this ministry! While 2008 proved to be our worst year on record in the area of donations and volunteers, Jehovah-Jireh-- our great provider, has once again shown Himself faithful. With the world's economy in shambles, unemployment rates soaring and businesses closing round about, our ministry emerged vibrant with new opportunities to demonstrate the love of Christ in 2009.
During the last quarter of 2008, God provided a generous financial gift allowing us to help speed the construction of a new facility for King's Hospital. This large and well equipped hospital, located adjacent to King's Garden children's home and Christian school, will be a refuge for spiritual and physical healing for the community.
We also praise God for the growth we see in Pastor Duplessy's ministry in Jacmel over the past several months. Attendance in this young church plant is steadily growing and is expected to exceed 100 regular weekly worshipers in the near future. A Christian school also located at the church celebrates a successful first year by launching a building expansion program, doubling their capacity. Jacmel remains a popular place to serve with mobile clinics and Bible studies. We are thankful for the continuing ministry of June Hanks, Dirk and Karen Martin and Franckel Jeannot in Les Cayes. The smiling faces of those whom they serve are testimony of God's hand at work as they share His love, helping to bring renewed hope to so many who live with physical challenges. The Advantage Program team is committed to continuous improvement and professional development that enables them to give of their best for the Master.
Dr. Wawel beams with excitement over the many blessings that God sent to Hôpital de la Paix in 2008. A recently renovated and expanded facility awaits volunteer medical teams with convenient and comfortable lodging at the on-site guesthouse. Dr. Wawel's exuberance for providing quality healthcare is only exceeded by his love of Christ. Jehovah-Jireh, praise His holy name! The fields are truly ripe for harvest. I invite you to take an active role in Lumière's mission to Haiti in 2009 by going and giving. If you have never experienced a short-term mission trip, perhaps the time is now. By sharing your time, talent and treasure you can make an eternal difference. Please let us hear from you soon. |
