Just a thought...

1 John 3:17-18 (NIT)

17. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?

18. Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

Louis A. Markwood
(aka Pastor Louie)

Date of Birth- August 13, 1919

Place of Birth- Denver, CO.

Ordained Minister- January, 1943

LMM Affiliation- First Executive Director, Board Member and chaplain

Prior to serving in Haiti, Pastor Markwood served 19 years with West Indies Mission (WIM) in Cuba, attaining the position of Field Director.  He would continue serving 28 years with WIM (WIM becomes World Team) as Field Leader for Haiti.
In 1987 World Team's board of directors decided to disengage from institutional missions.  This decision adversely impacted the future of Christian healthcare mission efforts in Haiti.  In response a group of devoted supporters made up of doctors, missionaries and others, agreed something must be done.
This dedicated group of pioneers formed a governing board and directed that a resource agency be established in the states with the sole purpose of soliciting and managing resources; human, material and financial so this missionary work could continue.  From this act Lumiere Medical Ministries, Inc. was born.
In May 1987 the board selected Louie Markwood to return to Gastonia, NC, and organize Lumiere Medical Ministries, Inc.  Pastor Louie becomes our first Executive Director.  His love for the ministry continues and is still making a positive and eternal impact for the cause of Christ.
Where Are They Now? Pastor Louie and his wife, Mrs. Mary currently resides in Gastonia, NC where he remains active as a Sunday school teacher at First ARP Church and leads a weekly community bible study.  In addition, he serves as chaplain to LMM's board of directors and is a cherished advisor to our staff.

As the years have passed Pastor Louie's love of Christ and passion for His word grows stronger each day.
