Continuing Professional Development

Over the years we have had requests from both our members and others as to whether they are entitled to any Continuing Professional Development hours for attending our programmes and events.  Professional groups such as RICS, RIBA, ICE, for example allow their members to decide for themselves what their learning needs are, and source their own learning provision.  As an example RICS gives its members advice on what activities can count towards CPD and courses such as those offered by the DBF are one of those activities and accordingly our courses and programmes may be considered a qualifying activity for RICS lifelong learning requirements.  Other Professional groups such as the Law Society of England & Wales, which governs Solicitors, and the Bar Standards Board of England & Wales, which governs Barristers require that CPD be only supplied by accredited providers.  In this regard the DBF is pleased to announce that we are accredited as a CPD Provider for both groups and those attending our programmes and events can claim appropriate CPD credits - our Annual Symposium as an example will provde 12 CPD units.

In other news the DBF is finalising its newest offices in Belgrade which with governmental assistance will help in the dispute resolution needs as part of the on-going road-work construction in the region.

As a not-for profit NGO the DBF welcomes the opportunity to assist local and regional governments in the prevention of disputes and the elimination of corruption through careful monitoring of infrastructure projects using Dispute Adjudication Boards.  To increase our presense in this regard the DBF through its new membership categories is seeking to expand it International stature by welcoming members from Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America into our new categories which include Affiliate Members, Student Members and of course Professional and Corporate Panel members.  For more information about membership please contact our Membership Coordinator Richard McGlade at richard.mcglade@dbfederation.org.

Finally our new Website is almost complete and should be live shortly.  On another social and networking note our marketing group is working on having three Member's dinners between now and the end of the year - in London, Dubai, and Singapore and invitation emails will be sent around as the venues and dates are picked.

FIDIC Contracts Total Immersion Programme

Park Hyatt DubaiThe DBF is holding its most successful training programme - the FIDIC Contracts Total Immersion 6-day programme which has 3-4 trainers per day, teaching, testing the participants knowledge and most importantly giving the attendees the full benefit of their extensive knowledge of FIDIC Contracts on an almost one-on-one basis. This programme is for individuals who want to maximise their learning experience in a relaxed  yet intensive learning environment. The location for our programme is at the Park Hyatt Dubai Hotel and the price is all-inclusive and includes all instruction, lunches and study materials. Each participant receives in-depth training in a special setting offering the finest accommodations and training facilities in the Middle East.

The programme is taught using a combination of lecture, group discussion, problem solving and for each topic the use of case studies covering real-world situations encountered on large international infrastructure projects and their resolution.

The culmination of this programme is the in-depth knowledge of the entire range of FIDIC Contracts, how they operate individually and collectively and how to use each to best advantage.

Each of our instructors is an expert in this field and they provide lively analysis of the contracts making the experience a truly enjoyable one. If you think you qualify to be in this programme please send an email telling us the reason why you would like to be considered for entry into this programme along with your CV to Jonathan Varoqui at The Dispute Board Federation.
