California Fair Funding Bill Introduced

Woods_Ma
WFA President Sandy Woods with Assembly Member Fiona Ma.

California Assembly Member Ma introduced Assembly Bill 2345 in February as she leads the effort to obtain funding and regulatory relief for California's fair network.

On March 7, Ma held a meeting to discuss the goals of her bill at the State Capitol. A group of fair representatives, led by California Fairs Alliance Chair Rick Pickering and Western Fairs Association President Sandy Woods, were joined by representatives from organized labor, the Speaker's Office, the Joint Fairs Committee and WFA advocate Louie Brown. After discussion, the WFA team and the legislative staff were tasked with preparing amendments to AB2345.

"This is our opportunity for molding positive change and accordingly it's important that the industry be united and speaks with one voice," says Woods.

Once the draft amendments have been approved by Assembly Member Ma, AB2345 will be amended and set for hearing in the Assembly Agriculture Committee. At that time, WFA will call on its membership for support.
