Chatting with Chuck
We are a people that live in an information world. With that being said, I would like to bring you up to date on some new occurrences that are happening within the property and facility of Alpharetta Presbyterian Church that you might not be aware of. Over time and with age, we see that nothing is as good as it once was without a little help. The church facilities are no exception. I, along with the assistance of our Property Committee, will be undertaking several major projects that will ultimately enhance the church's beautification, both inside and out.
Within the next few weeks you will see roof, fascia, soffit and gutter repairs commencing. These are just several of the projects that are planned in the near future for Alpharetta Presbyterian Church. The Property Committee has formed a sub-committee to look into new carpets for our sanctuary and Fellowship Hall. We are looking into re-surfacing and re-striping the parking lot. In addition, the fence around the perimeter of the church will be getting a long overdue facelift as well.
Several projects have already begun including the installation of the new cabinets in the kitchen. Future plans are to completely outfit the entire kitchen with new cabinets. The Alpha Building (first trailer) is in a remodeling phase and will provide the church with three new classrooms and a room for handbells to conduct their practices. We have added a new recycling dumpster to the trash service as well.
I wish I could announce an exact time or date of when these enhancing church projects will come to fruition, but I cannot. However, the Property Committee is putting a game plan into effect and with that plan, there is only one way to go...and that is forward. We are striving to be good stewards of the property and make the church a more appealing and comfortable place to gather and to worship. Property Committee leaders and I will be keeping the church informed on these projects in the Good News as we continue to move ahead. With your faithfulness and prayers, let us strive to continue in making Alpharetta Presbyterian Church a safe and beautiful place to worship, fellowship and serve.

Children's Musical
On Sunday, March 6 (at both services) the children of the church will present "Table for Five...Thousand". Found in all four New Testament gospels, the story reveals how one boy with five loaves of bread and two fish and a willingness to share leads to the miracle of Jesus that fed the multitudes. Later, the event reveals an even greater truth as Jesus tells his disciples, "I am the Bread of Life. Those who come to me will never go hungry." It shows how even the most humble among us can do great things with God's help. Even the congregation that Sunday will have a role to play in the telling of this special story. |

ACT1 Theater
ACT1 Theater Presents: Barbecuing Hamlet by Pat Cook. Wouldn't it be great fun to direct William Shakespeare's "Hamlet"? That was what Margo Daley always thought...until she is hired to do just that by a renovated funeral home. They DO have a couple of conditions, however. Margo has to make the play a melodrama, so the audience will know when to throw the popcorn. And they can't be too loud because the lady who lives under the theater bangs her cane on the stage. Oh, and by the way, it has to take place in the Old West. Eccentric characters come out of the woodwork in this riotous farce as Margo and her troupe of misguided actors find out what it's like when they begin "Barbecuing Hamlet." March 4 - 27 (Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm with Sunday Matinees on March 13, 20 & 27 at 2:00pm). Special Pricing For APC Members! Adults: $10; Children under 12 and Seniors over 60: $8 Tickets available in the lobby, by phone at 770-751-0033 ext 225 or online at www.act1theater.com Enter Coupon Code "APCCC" for Discount |
Photographers Attention photographers - Your photographs from last fall's exhibit are available for pickup in the lobby on Sunday mornings or in the church office during the week. |

Career Transition
APC Career Transition Program - With Metro Atlanta's unemployment rate still hovering around 10%, many members and friends of APC find themselves unemployed or underemployed. When those who have given up are no longer job hunting, as well as those who want full-time jobs, but still work part-time, the real total unemployment rate leaps to 16.7%.
If your organization is seeking candidates to recruit, please contact Elder Bill Harris at w.m.harris@att.net. It's possible that some of our own members could be a good fit for your opportunity. Thank you for keeping our Career Transitions Ministry and the lives it touches in your prayers. For more information, or how to be involved with this ministry, please contact Bill Harris. |
