Ollie's Offerings
If you aren't a "numbers person" budgets probably aren't very exciting to you. However, I would argue that the 2011 APC budget which the Session approved at its January meeting is very exciting! Your generosity is providing for incredible ministry to happen. Your giving provides for weekly public worship, Christian education, fellowship and nurture for all ages, mission work both near and far way, and a facility that is used throughout the week by the congregation and community.
This year's budget has been set at $1.152 million. Roughly half of that is for personnel, one-third for the building (debt, utilities and upkeep), one-tenth for missions, and the remainder (about 10 percent) for our ministries of worship, fellowship, nurture, evangelism and education. Our committees, staff and Session seek to be wise and faithful stewards of the gifts you bring. Mary Shevlin is our elected, volunteer church treasurer. Susan Schiltz is employed as our finance manager. A finance committee that consists of 9 members meets monthly to oversee our income and expenses. We owe a debt of gratitude to each one of them! They do a wonderful job.
If you would like to see a summary of the 2011 budget you can find that on the APC website by choosing "About APC" and then "Document Library", or by simply going to http://www.alpharettapres.com/documents. If you have any questions about the 2011 budget or your own giving, please contact Susan in the church office (susan@alpharettapres.com). Please add your prayers to the gifts you bring in 2011 that God may bless both gift and giver and use them to accomplish great things in Christ's name.

ACT1 Theater
ACT1 Theater Presents: Barbecuing Hamlet by Pat Cook. Wouldn't it be great fun to direct William Shakespeare's "Hamlet"? That was what Margo Daley always thought...until she is hired to do just that by a renovated funeral home. They DO have a couple of conditions, however. Margo has to make the play a melodrama, so the audience will know when to throw the popcorn. And they can't be too loud because the lady who lives under the theater bangs her cane on the stage. Oh, and by the way, it has to take place in the Old West. Eccentric characters come out of the woodwork in this riotous farce as Margo and her troupe of misguided actors find out what it's like when they begin "Barbecuing Hamlet." March 4 - 27 (Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm with Sunday Matinees on March 13, 20 & 27 at 2:00pm). Special Pricing For APC Members! Adults: $10; Children under 12 and Seniors over 60: $8 Tickets available in the lobby, by phone at 770-751-0033 ext 225 or online at www.act1theater.com Enter Coupon Code "APCCC" for Discount |

The "Faith and Families" Adult Sunday School class will be hosting a 4-week series called "The Marriage Journey: a journey towards mutual love, respect and understanding" in the multipurpose room from 9:45-10:45am every Sunday in March. This class is for those who have been on the marriage journey for a brief time or a long sojourn. The class is also designed for those who are contemplating making this journey at some point in their future. Over the four weeks we will cover: Mapping the way ahead. Taking the road less traveled or the one that's familiar?
- Signs to watch for: Slow down, Curves Ahead; Bump; Yield; Watch out for Children; Road Work Ahead; etc.
- When it's time to stop for refreshment or to ask for directions!
- How to know when you've arrived.

Career Transition
APC Career Transition Program - With Metro Atlanta's unemployment rate still hovering around 10%, many members and friends of APC find themselves unemployed or underemployed.
At the Group Meeting held on Wednesday, February 2, interest was expressed in learning more about Six Sigma, which might gave our members in job transition a more competitive edge.
We would appreciate one or more of our members, who are familiar with this program, volunteering to lead a discussion of Six Sigma, so that APC members in the career transition program would gain additional insights into how this program could enhance their competitiveness in this job market. Please contact Elder Bill Harris at w.m.harris@att.net, who can arrange a mutually convenient meeting time. |
