Ollie's Offerings
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me. Do not hinder them for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." And he took them in his arms and blessed them.
This Sunday at APC we will celebrate "Dayschool Sunday." While the worship services will be our normal services we will hear briefly from Dayschool Director Nancy Fain about the great work being done in this educational ministry. The 200 Dayschool students and their familes have been given a special invitation to attend our worship service, so it promises to be a "younger than average" congregation in the pews!
How blessed we are to be in partnership with so many famiies over the years. Many children who went to APC Dayschool are now in the workforce. Time passes rapidly but the good work of love, discovery and instruction abide. Dayschool is just one of the many ways APC tries to use its blessings and resources to reach out beyond our walls to serve the needs of our community.
Let the children come! For them we have much to offer and from them much to learn. |

Dinner for Drake House
The Drake House mission is to provide short term crisis housing, assessment, support, and empowerment to homeless mothers and their children in the North Fulton area. The Drake House provides life skills classes to the residents. Families often arrive for the classes directly from work and school. The provision of dinner for their family relieves stress and ensures that the family receives dinner and makes it to the workshop in a timely manner. APC will provide dinner on Monday, January 31. We will be delivering meatloaf, potato casserole, green salad, fresh fruit, rolls and bottled water. We will need food for 45 people. A few items are still needed, please check the signup sheet on the Mission bulletin board directly across from Fellowship Hall. If you have questions, call Sue White at 770-772-4667 or Sheryl Wentworth at 770-777-1229. |
Adult Sunday School
Adult Sunday School Mini-Series now in progress! Some stories in the Bible get more "air-time" than others: we drew pictures about them as kids, we sang songs about them in Sunday School classes, and we heard sermons on them throughout our lives. So familiar are these stories that we no longer wonder what they are about or how they relate to our lives of faith. In this 4-part mini-series, we will revisit some of the most well-known stories of the Bible with the hope of bringing to light some fresh perspectives on these familiar stories. The series will be led by Ryan Bonfiglio (the Rev. Jamie Butcher's husband) who is completing his Ph.D. in Old Testament and Hebrew studies at Emory University. The classes will meet in the theater beginning at 9:45 AM. Sunday, January 30 The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:1-32) Sunday, February 6 Jesus Calms the Wind & the Waves (Mark 4:35-41)

Career Transition
APC Career Transition Program - With Metro Atlanta's unemployment rate still hovering around 10%, many members and friends of APC find themselves unemployed or underemployed. When those who have given up are no longer job hunting, as well as those who want full-time jobs, but still work part-time, the real total unemployment rate leaps to 16.7%.
If your organization is seeking candidates to recruit, please contact Elder Bill Harris at w.m.harris@att.net. It's possible that some of our own members could be a good fit for your opportunity. Thank you for keeping our Career Transitions Ministry and the lives it touches in your prayers. For more information, or how to be involved with this ministry, please contact Bill Harris. |
