Tent City - New Dates!
Attention Jr. and Sr. Highers, the NEW DATES for Tent City are: June
27-July 2!
Tent City is a local mission trip where we will
camp at TriPonds Campground and serve in
various places during the day.
Many
of you participated in Gun Lake Community Church's Tent City last year
and had a great time serving in both Allegan and Wayland.
Last year we sorted donated items
at a local second hand store, yard work/landscaping, painting, clean-up,
etc. and this year will be similar.
Bring your tent, your work clothes, your bathing suit and
your friends for the 2010 Tent City!
Contact Michele Bird at 269-509-6465 for more information or to sign up!

2nd Friday Sing
Starting on May 14th (not this week) we are going to have an informal jam session with some of the Bridge band at Mike Villar's house. You don't need to bring anything except your voices!
We'll start at 7pm and go until we feel like stopping. As long as there is sufficient interest we will do this on the second Friday of every month.

5th Sunday
Our next 5th will actually occur on June 6 which you may have noticed is actually going to technically be a "1st Sunday" (since it's the first Sunday in June).
The reason for this is that the actual 5th Sunday falls on Memorial Day Weekend and we didn't want to have a service weekend when so many of our folks could be off celebrating with family and friends. So, we decided to postpone it until the following week.
So, on June 6th we will not have a regular worship service but will meet at the Bridge Building (141 Riverfront Plaza in Allegan) at 9am and will serve in the community. More info to come as the date gets closer.
What is 5th Sunday? Every quarter of the year there is a month that has a 5th Sunday. On
each of those 5th Sundays instead of our regular worship service the
Bridge will get out of our 4 walls
and serve the community.

Service Opportunity - Kick-off to Summer Learning
The Kick-off to Summer Learning is Wednesday
June 9th from 5 to 7 and is a free
event for families, with games for the kids, food, a book sale,
information on services in the county, information on fun stuff to do
during the summer, firetruck, school bus, etc.
They usually have close
to 300 people show up representing around 100 families. They will have Subway sandwiches for the folks who show up and could use help with handing out the food, people to provide some desserts and/or chips.
There may also be opportunities to help at
other booths with crafts and games and stuff like that.
If you are interested in helping out please contact Rachel Hill at rachel.hill@lpcenters.com.

Pray
John will be having his pulmonary
artery and valve
replaced,
along with his aortic valve. The surgery will be Friday, May 7th
at
7:15am at the Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center, downtown Grand Rapids.
We do
not know how long the surgery will take, as it depends on how much scar
tissue
is in there from his previous surgeries. He will probably be in the
hospital
for about a week, and off of work for 8-12 weeks, depending on how well
his
breastbone heals. Thank you so much for your continued prayers! ~Becky
Kleinbrink

My son, Jeremy
Thompson, is deploying to Afghanistan with ARMY
526th Engineers. They are attached to 3rd ID. He has been in holding
for the past week and will be leaving within hours. I will not have
contact with him again for an expected 3 - 4 months.
I
know that he is in God's hands, and I know that God does indeed have a
plan, but as a mother, my heart is breaking......
While
writing this email, he just called to say goodbye. I will not hear his
voice again for months.....
I refused to say
goodbye, but rather God Speed....
I need
prayers for safety: safety for my son and for those he serves beside. I
need prayers for strength: strength to stay strong and not
fall apart. I need prayers for faith: faith that he will come
home unharmed and that this war will soon end.
Please
pray for my soldier, for all of our soldiers, and for our family.
Thanks
be to God and to my Church family for all of our blessings seen and
unseen,
~Teresa Steinburg

Please
pray for BillieSue Jones and her
family, MarjorieMae
and Caleb. BillieSue will need to find employment in the next 12 weeks.
She
has skills working with hi-lo's and skytraks and would like to find a
job
in shipping and receiving if possible. She has been putting lots of
applications out there, but nothing has come through as of yet. Please
lift up
their family in prayer and if you know of any connections to jobs,
please let
her know. Thanks! ~Lisa DeKryger

One of my dearest friends called me last night
crying uncontrollably. His wife, Ellen, has a brain tumor which the
surgeons will attempt to remove tomorrow morning (today) at 9 am (noon our
time). She had a tumor removed when she was 12 (31 yrs. ago) which was
the size of a walnut, and had been doing well and living normally since.
She began displaying erratic behavior about 2 months ago and then flu
like symptoms and dizziness, etc. She had been to several doctors, and
they all said it was just a virus or something and to get more rest.
Monday she began seeing double and collapsed at work. She was taken to
a different hospital where they did CT scans, and found that in the
same spot as years before, there is another tumor. They wanted to
remove
immediately, but there is fluid on her spinal cord, as well, which has
been preventing them from doing surgery. They have been working to
remove the fluid, and they have scheduled the surgery. They will be
meeting with the family today to go over the scans and the details of
the surgery, prognosis, etc.
Please pray for
Ellen, her family, and also for the surgeons.

_________________________Colossians 4v.2-6 2Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful
and thankful. 3And
pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we
may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.
4Pray
that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.
5Be wise in
the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.
6Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so
that you may know how to answer everyone.

What is the Bridge?
The Bridge is a church in Allegan, Michigan that
is for the beaten-up, the burned-out, and the just plain bored. If you spend time with us, you will hear that a
lot - it is a central idea of how we want to interact with the community
around us.
We want to be a place that
reflects the love of Jesus. Everyone is welcome, with
no prerequisites of church background or prior belief. Bring your faith
and your doubt, your joy and your tears, your praise and your
selfishness. We're not perfect, but we'll love you as best as we can.

Thanks for supporting the
Bridge! Let us know if we can help you in any way.
