this sunday
|
"1 In Caesarea there lived a Roman army officer named Cornelius, who was a captain of the Italian Regiment.2 He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God.3 One afternoon about three o'clock, he had a vision in which he saw an angel of God coming toward him. "Cornelius!" the angel said. 4 Cornelius stared at him in terror.
"What is it, sir?" he asked the angel. And the angel replied, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have been received by God as an offering!..."
When we write a check or drop some cash into the offering box are we doing it out of obligation or ritual? Or do we see it as the angel tells Cornelius, as an offering that goes up before God Himself?
Giving is an act of worship to God.

| Forgiving PeterSunday, March 14
Lesson #7
Bible Basis: Matthew 26:69-75; Mark 14:66-72; Luke 22:54-65; John 18:25-27
Key Concept: Jesus forgave and He wants us to forgive others.
Bible Verse: "Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Colossians 3:13
Know What (LG): Children will hear the story of when Jesus forgave Peter
three times.
So What (LG): Children will learn that Jesus forgives us for anything if we
ask Him.
Now What (TT): Children will identify times they sin (do wrong things) and need
forgiveness. They will identify times when they need to forgive others.
Spiritual Formation: Forgiveness

 | food needed
| I got word that the
food pantry in Plainwell is empty and that Bigby Coffee in Plainwell is trying
to gather some food to help them out.
If anyone wants to bring groceries to church on Sunday, Rachael Erickson would be happy to deliver it to the pantry.
Thanks so much!

 | starting point class sign up
| We're planning on offering another Starting Point class for people who haven't had a chance to take it yet.
If you haven't taken the Starting Point class yet and would like to please email me (if you just tell me on Sunday morning I WILL forget, so please send it to me in writing. Thanks!)
For those who don't know, our Starting Point class is
the first of three classes that we will offer to help our folks move
into deeper relationships with God, each other, and to the community of
Allegan.
Our next class - Connecting Point, which will help us move deeper into
relationships with one another - will be offered, hopefully, sometime
in April.
Our third class - What's Your Point?, which will help us discover how
God has designed us, how He has gifted us, and where He is calling us
to serve - will be offered later this summer.

 | freedom in Christ if the Son sets you free, you are truly free
| The Mission
Statement of Set Free Ministries is to set captives free from Satan's
bondage through Christ's power and prayer, by encouraging them to know
and walk in God's Word.
__________________________ At the Bridge we have always acknowledged that none us of has it all together and that we are all in the process of "crossing together" to connect to God, each other, and our community.
To help us "cross" more effectively, Bridge folks, Lisa DeKryger, Martha Mark, and Jody Black, are all currently completing Freedom in Christ training for Set Free Ministries. This training will give them some skills to help all of us get free from more of the garbage that entangles us and pulls us down and keeps us from being all that God has for us to be.
If you are interested in finding out more about getting free from the junk in your life contact Lisa DeKryger at lisa@crossingtogether.com.

| I'd like to invite you to my blog "...and there's nothing you can do about it".
It consists of my ramblings on some random things, some funny things, hopefully some profound things... and also mp3's of the Sunday messages from the Bridge.
Check back to it often and make sure to add your own comments and questions - they may give me more ideas for things to write about.

 | prayer
|

Please pray for Michele Bird's brother, Scott, who has been battling cancer and who they have just discovered has two blood clots - one in his leg and one in his lung. They are treating him and trying to dissolve the clots before they can dislodge and cause a massive stroke.
Please pray for Craig Iehl who is suffering from a condition that causes intense pain in his hands. Pray for healing and relief for Craig.
Pray for the people around us to be hungry for God and that they would see Him in us.
Pray
for God to lead us in and provide leaders for the planting of our next church(es).
_________________________
Colossians 4v.2-62Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3And
pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we
may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.
4Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.
5Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
~Roger
