| healing at the pool
"Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda[a] and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. 3Here a great number of disabled people used to lie-the blind, the lame, the paralyzed.[b] 5One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6When
Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this
condition for a long time, he asked him, 'Do you want to get well?'"
john 5v.2-5
The story of the healing at the pool is important for us today because there are things in each of our lives that "cripple" us and keep us from walking with Jesus the way we should and the way we want to.
When Jesus met the crippled man at the pool He asked him one question, "Do you want to get well?" This week at the Bridge, we'll be asking the same question and then be praying for one another in expectation that God will answer our prayers and that we will see healing in our midst!

dunk tank @ allegan county fair
|

We had a great time in the dunk tank at Allegan County Fair! We had over 30 people participate, 7 people do their time in the dunk tank, and we raised about $375 for Love INC!
For the entire week of the fair the dunk tank brought in $1,200 for Love INC. Thanks to everyone who helped out at the booth and made the alleganchurches.com dunk tank a success!

Thanks also to everyone who helped out at the American Red Cross blood drive on Thursday. The ARC's goal for us for the day was 43 successful donors and we had 50!
Thanks especially to Brandon Andrus who put it all together for us! It was another great way for the Bridge to connect to and to serve Allegan. Great job!

DROP THE ROCKS !!! by Lisa
DeKryger
I don't know about you, but I was
convicted during the sermon Sunday to DROP
THE ROCKS that I was holding, cocked and ready to fire at people in
my life who have hurt me and the ones that I love. It is easy to condemn those
who seem to be so blatant in their sin, leaving a trail of destruction in their
path, breaking the hearts of the ones that we love, messing up our lives with
their poor decisions. It is much more difficult to drop the rocks because it seems like we are letting them off
the hook, letting them "get away with it"!!! And what about those
who just keep on offending and hurting us over and over again!
Well, fortunately, we don't get to
pick those who can receive God's grace. It is available to all and that
means it is available to us when we fall short, too. I need the same grace as
those who hurt me do. Thank goodness others don't get to decide whether
I should be condemned or not, because I certainly have done things that have
hurt people. "If anyone of you is
without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone. . .those who heard began to
go away one at a time". Let's drop the rocks, too, and see what God can
do through his grace to transform and restore people's lives just as he
has done in our own lives!
Prayer Focus
for this week:
- Take
some time to consider how your own sin has hurt those around you. Thank
God for the abundant grace that He has given you for the mistakes you have
made.
- Pray
that God would help you extend grace to those who you would like to throw
rocks at in the same way that He has extended grace to you.
- Pray
for those who hurt you, that they would be transformed and restored by the
grace of God and find freedom in Him.
- If
you are in an LTG, spend some time confessing to each other about who you
are aiming your rocks at and pray together about it.
- Pray
that we at The Bridge would be so filled with the knowledge of God's
grace in our own lives that it would overflow into the Allegan community
and surrounding areas. That our reputation would be one of love, acceptance,
and GRACE!
please email your prayer requests to: prayer@crossingtogether.com.
If your prayer request is for someone else, please make sure you have their permission to share the information before sending it in.
