the woman at the well

john 4
Can God use me when I've made mistakes?  When I've made a mess out of my life?  The story of Jesus' interaction with the Samaritan woman answers this question with a resounding "YES!".

We don't feel worthy...and we're not!  But HE MAKES US WORTHY and gives us the ability that we don't have on our own.

God CAN use you and wants to, will you let Him?

Week #4 - Faithfulness
Finishing well

 Luke 13:6-9

SUMMER SLAM 2!
Surf's up and with all the fruit around, you'd think it's time for a LUAU! Johnny Rogers and a whole host of his pals are taking you surfside to squeeze every ounce of wisdom from the Fruit of the Spirit as found in the Book of Galatians . We're not talking your garden variety fruit here, friends.

We're talking about LOVE, PATIENCE, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS and SELF CONTROL . Sweet! Laugh your lemons off with our old friend Sir Reginald Duffus Esquire and his Not Exactly Pectin Theatre . Farmer Frank takes us to his own produce section for our Compass Points and Sir Bottomly and pal, June Berry , welcome you to "Stuff You'll Never Need But You'll Buy Anyway," infomercial. It's the juice!

hi there!

Hope you're having a great week!  I thought I'd catch you up with things that are happening at the Bridge...

5th sunday
5th Sunday

We had another great turn out for our third 5th Sunday of 2009!

We had 5 different groups at various sites around Allegan and the surrounding communities painting, cleaning, replacing sliding doors, putting in door alarms, and cleaning out lockers at the middle school getting them ready for kids to start school next week.

Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to be a blessing to the community!

party at the Bliek's

Don't forget, there's a party this Saturday, September 5 at 5pm, at Brad and Becky Bliek's house.

Please bring meat to grill or roast over the fire and a dish to share, if you can.  They will have a few hotdogs and drinks and S'mores.

  • take 20th to 128th (Hopkins road) and turn right
  • Take 128th 1 mile to 18th, turn left
  • Take 18th to 133rd Ave. and turn left
  • We are 1/2 mile down on the right hand side - 1893 133rd Ave.

dunk tank @ allegan county fair

dunk tank

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
We have a unique opportunity to be involved in the Allegan County Fair this year.  Some of the churches have planned to have a dunk tank at the Fair in order to help promote a new web site we are putting together, alleganchurches.com.

The site will be a clearing house for info on area churches and will have links to their web sites.

Churches are volunteering to take different days throughout Fair week and the Bridge is covering Friday, September 18 from 11am to 11pm (I know, that's a long day!)

We will have 3 shifts:

11am - 3pm
3pm-7pm
7pm-11pm

I'm planning on doing my time in the dunk tank but we need more "dunkees"!  I know there are many of you that I would pay good money for a chance to dunk!

We have a few fair passes but, unfortunately, most of those volunteering at the tank will need to pay their way in.  The booth is given just two free passes for having the spot and Marc Kelly from Allegan Wesleyan Church will be holding one of those as he has spearheaded this whole thing and will be checking in regularly.  Five volunteers are needed at a time to run the booth.

I'll have a sign up sheet at church so people can sign up for blocks of time on that Friday.

blood drive

We have another volunteer opportunity for us.  Brandon Andrus has worked to put together a Bridge sponsorship of the September 24th Red Cross Blood Drive in Allegan.

Drive is at the Griswold Auditorium lower level from noon - 6 pm

We need:

2 volunteers for registration
Noon - 3pm
and
3pm - 6pm

2 volunteers to work the food table
Noon - 3pm
and
3pm - 6pm

We could also use some help distributing posters and table tents around the community 2-3 weeks before the drive.

The Red Cross tells us that with our participation we will be responsible for saving the lives of about 150 people!  Pretty cool!

We'll talk more and have a sign up at church this Sunday.

prayer
prayer2

Please continue to pray for the family of Amber Schifflebein, the 27 year old mother of 4 who was killed in a car accident last week.  Pray for God's comfort and grace as friends, family and her children grieve the loss of Amber.
~Roger

About a month ago I asked you to pray for Lisa Hopkins and her family as they walk through the pain and trials of metastasized breast cancer.  She recently was participating in an experimental drug study in Detroit to see if it would reduce her cancer.  Unfortunately, she was pulled out of the study due to some growth in one of the tumors.  Lisa needs our continued prayers.  Traditional cancer treatment has not been effective with her type of cancer.  Currently the Karmanos Cancer Clinic in Detroit is looking for another experimental study for her to be a part of.  Whether you know Lisa or not, I hope you will join me in praying for complete healing from this ongoing struggle with cancer.

If you would like to send a card of encouragement, their address is:

Jeff and Lisa Hopkins
231 Thomas Street
Allegan, MI 49010.

Thank you for praying!

~Lisa

please email your prayer requests to: prayer@crossingtogether.com.

If your prayer request is for someone else, please make sure you have their permission to share the information before sending it in.
