the woman at the well

john 4
Can God use me when I've made mistakes?  When I've made a mess out of my life?  The story of Jesus' interaction with the Samaritan woman answers this question with a resounding "YES!".

We don't feel worthy...and we're not!  But HE MAKES US WORTHY and gives us the ability that we don't have on our own.

God CAN use you and wants to, will you let Him?

Hope you're having a great week!  I thought I'd catch you up with things that are happening at the Bridge...

5th sunday

DON'T FORGET!  This Sunday, August 30th, is our next 5th Sunday.  Meet at the high school parking lot at 9am

We will NOT have regular Sunday worship this Sunday!

We have several great projects lined up to help out some individuals around town who could use a hand.

Most of us will be painting and scraping, others will be doing yard clean up or cleaning out a large meeting space and painting it, so dress accordingly and if you have them please bring:
  • paint brushes/rollers
  • paint containers/trays
  • scrapers/putty knives
  • basic tools
  • a dolly
  • rakes, clippers, trimmers
See you at 9am on Sunday!

baptisms
bleiks baptism

What a great day!  We celebrated 9 baptisms in beautiful Miner Lake last Sunday after church!

It was an honor to be a part of and was so great to see how God is blessing the Bridge.

dunk tank @ allegan county fair
dunk tank

We have a unique opportunity to be involved in the Allegan County Fair this year.  Some of the churches have planned to have a dunk tank at the Fair in order to help promote a new web site we are putting together, www.alleganchurches.com.
(we are currently getting the site up and running)

The site will be a clearing house for info on area churches and will have links to their web sites.

Churches are volunteering to take different days throughout Fair week and Friday, September 18, is open.  I'd like the Bridge to take this day.

Volunteering for a day involves... opening the tank and booth by 11:00 AM.  Providing the "dunkees" for the tank for the entire time between 11 AM and 11 PM (possibly close as early as 10pm depending on weather and participation).  I'll spend a good amount of time in the tank but I can't do all 12 hours!

Unfortunately, those volunteering at the tank will need to pay their way in.  We are given just two free passes for having the spot.  Marc Kelly from Allegan Wesleyan Church will be holding one of those as he has spearheaded this whole thing and will be checking in regularly.  Five volunteers are needed at a time to run the booth.

I'll have a sign up sheet at church so people can sign up for blocks of time on that Friday.

red cross blood drive
blood drive

We have another volunteer opportunity for us.  Brandon Andrus has worked to put together a Bridge sponsorship of the September Red Cross Blood Drive in Allegan.

Drive is at the Griswold Auditorium lower level from noon - 6 pm

We need:

2 volunteers for registration
Noon - 3pm
and
3pm - 6pm

2 volunteers to work the food table
Noon - 3pm
and
3pm - 6pm

We could also use some help distributing posters and table tents around the community 2-3 weeks before the drive.

The Red Cross tells us that with our participation we will be responsible for saving the lives of about 150 people!  Pretty cool!

We'll talk more and have a sign up at church.

party at the Bliek's

Hey, there's a party next Saturday, September 5 at 5pm, at the Bliek's house.

Details and directions will follow, but I wanted you to be able to put it on your calendar.

prayer

Please pray for divine appointments on our 5th Sunday this week and for our volunteer opportunities at the Fair and with the Red Cross.  Pray that our service will open doors to minister even more in Allegan and the surrounding communities.
~Roger
