Many of usmisunderstand the
purpose of corporate worship. A lot of times our worship together has become an experience in which WE are the focus.
Worship
has deteriorated into an "I didn't get anything out of that" experience. We have become the object of our own
worship. We want to be entertained and spiritually massaged.
It
hardly occurs to us that worship is primarily a matter of God
receiving something from us our praise, adoration, and confession of
dependence on Him as our Sovereign King.
This week we'll talk a little bit about this and put what we learn into practice! We will also celebrate Communion together.

and his surfside friends in the quest for treasure. It's sure to be an

desert!

Our next 5th Sunday is coming up at the end of August and we'd like to know if you all have anyone in your lives who could use our help. Think about: - Widows
- Single moms and dads
- The elderly
- Someone who is out of work
- People who are dealing with health issues
We have several weeks to come up with ideas so let me know if you think of anyone. __________________________ |
 | Prayer

Please pray for Lisa Hopkins and her husband Jeff and two
daughters, Alyssa and Bridgette. Lisa has been fighting metastasized breast
cancer which has unfortunately spread to her lungs and to other areas of her
body. She recently went to U of M hospital and has qualified to be a part of a
new study which has had great success fighting her kind of cancer. She will be
traveling to Detroit
tomorrow and staying for the week to start her first phase of treatments at the
Karmanos Cancer Clinic. Please be in prayer that these treatments are
successful and for strength for Lisa as she will have some side effects to work
through. If you would like to send a card of encouragement, their address is

Please pray for Cindy Keyzer who is undergoing treatment for
lymphoma. She will be starting a new drug and chemo to treat the cancer. The
prognosis is positive, but it still will be a struggle getting through the
treatments. Please pray for complete healing, courage, and strength. Please
pray for her husband Larry who is still rehabbing his shoulder from recent
shoulder replacement surgery, too. He is still dealing with a lot of pain. If
