Did You Know?

In spite of the rise of mega-churches, no county in America has a greater church population than it did ten years ago.

Impressive Parenting

Bible

  Deuteronomy 6:5-7

"Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."

We as a church value impacting the lives of others and seeing them transformed by the power of God.

But as we go through life let's not miss the most important mission field that God has given us...our kids.

Let's make sure that, like in Deuteronomy 6 we are being "Impressive Parents" sharing our growing faith with our kids "when we sit at home and when we walk along the road, when we lie down and when we get up"

I think I smell an upcoming Sunday teaching time...

Life Transformation Groups

LTG's are "Life Transformation Groups" and they do just what the name says - they help transform your life!  The are based on the concept by author Neil Cole.

Each LTG is made up of two-three same sex friends and meets weekly.  Adding a fourth is okay for a short while before splitting into two groups of 2.  Each LTG participant carries an LTG Card with discussion questions dealing with 3 areas:

  • Confession -Ten accountability questions covering integrity, sexuality, generosity, etc., are discussed to keep each other's character in line.
  • Reading - The group agrees to read and discuss 20-30 chapters of the Bible each week. If one participant fails to read it all, they all re-read it for next week.
  • Prayer - Each participant prays for 2-3 people who do not know Jesus using ten Biblical texts..

Answers to what you've already prayed...
  • A wonderful Sunday together both in worship at the high school, at our picnic lunch at Jaycee Park, and our excursion to Crane's Apple Orchard.  We missed all of you who couldn't make it!
  • Brandon Andrus is back safely from his tour of duty in Africa!
  • God continues to intervene in the lives of people who put their faith in Him.  He is changing the hearts of judges, He is mending broken relationships between old friends and creating new friendships.
Stuff that still needs praying for...
  • Please pray for Roger's family as his dad fights against a very aggressive form of lymphoma.  Pray for peace and closure for all involved.
  • We would like to raise $20,000 to help pay for our Church on Wheels package that we need for our official launch in January.  Pray that God would raise up the givers.
  • Bridge staff (i.e. Roger and Lisa) are required to raise 25% of their salaries through folks that believe in the mission of the Bridge.  Pray that God would raise up generous individuals to come along side them and help provide the funding they need.
