A Thought for Crazy Times

Bible

Jeremiah 29 is the account of Israel being defeated and carried off to a humiliating and frightening exile at the hands of their Babylonians conquerors because of their unfaithfulness to God.

Then, God gives a word to the prophet Jeremiah to give to His people.  Israel, I'm sure, is expecting to hear, "You brought this on yourselves!  You are getting what you deserve, now sleep in the bed you made for yourselves!"  I can picture them cringing as they prepare to hear from Jeremiah what God has to say.

Then come the word from God.  God tells them, you are still my people, settle in and live life in Babylon for a while, but this is temporary.  I will restore you again, "for I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, ' plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

In the midst of their heart ache, in the middle of their discipline God speaks words of kindness and hope to His people.

As we go through this turbulent and scary time in our world God is still speaking words of kindess to us.  He still has plans to prosper us and give us a hope and a future.  Just ask Him.

CRANE'S APPLE ORCHARDCrane's Apple Orchard

This week right after church we'll head over to Jaycee Park for a little tailgating (bring your picnic baskets) and then we'll caravan over to Crane's Apple Orchard in Fennville to pick apples, go through the corn maze (we hear from other Bridge members that it's tougher than you think!), or just walk around their gorgeous orchards with other folks from the Bridge.

It will be a great time to get to know each other better and have some fun!

Crane's is located at 6017 124th Ave, 1.5 miles west of Fennville on M-89 on the north side of the road. Or, if coming from I-96, take exit 34 (the Fennville exit) and continue east 4.5 miles. It will be on your left. Watch for the barn pictured at right with large apples and peaches on it.

Answers to what you've already prayed...
  • Another great Sunday meeting!
  • More reports from Bridge folks of connections with hurting people in Allegan who needs to know how much God loves them..
  • God has opened the door for Roger to become part of the City Council's Downtown Development Authority giving us more opportunity to help Allegan as a church and to impact the community.
Stuff that still needs praying for...
  • Unity, patience, and love - which covers over a multitude of sins.
  • We would like to raise $20,000 to help pay for our Church on Wheels package that we need for our official launch in January.  Pray that God would raise up the givers.
  • More workers for the harvest who share the vision God has given for the Bridge..
