Back To School Contest Winners AnnouncedIst Place Winner of $1000
with a score of 388 Points is:
Dr. Michael Francis of Francis Optimal Performance Chiropractic
BP: Can you share a testimonial or a quote?
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
BP: What are the three biggest challenges you face in your practice?
1. Leaving my work....at work. Since
I've taken over the practice a year ago, I've been putting in at least
6 days at the office, and still logging in to Billing Precision at
home. Hopefully, soon I will be at a point where I can spend more time relaxing at home with the family.
2. Getting
through to difficult patients-the ones who are sedentary, eat poorly,
and smoke-yet feel their back pain has no association to their
lifestyle and wonder why they are not getting better.
3.Dealing with Insurance companies who refuse to pay for MRI's when radiculopathy is documented. If
there is cord compression or even severe cord abutment present, and a
chiropractor delivers a high velocity adjustment....there could be
serious injury including paralysis. I refuse to lower my standard of care because the Insurance company wants to save some bucks.
BP: What were the three biggest challenges you faced during this contest?
1. Ensuring my staff clears the Workbench on a daily basis.
2. Making up any missed appointments/no shows/cancels, rather than just "seeing the patient at their next appointment".
3. Following
up with my staff after they would view a training video, to see if they
had any questions regarding Vericle's many functions.
BP: What was the hardest part in implementing Billing Precision in your practice?
The
hardest part was converting an old-fashioned paper claim practice (of
over 20 years) to the new "internet based" Billing Precision. It
took many long hours to transfer over all of the current patients'
personal and insurance information, SOAP notes, and any balances due or
credits owed.
BP: What do you tell doctors that just started their practice?
Build an impressive CV as soon as possible, and get it out to other doctors and attorneys in the area. You need to show the credentials to be seen as an equal in the medical-legal community. This
will not only generate referrals, but it will make you the expert in
your field in the courtroom and allow your documentation to be
admissible.
BP: What about the veterans? What do you tell them?
For the Veterans...never stop learning. There is a lot more research and techniques available today than there were when they were in school. Also, if taking x-rays, always document in your notes the reason you ordered the x-rays. This will prevent you from having to give money back (with interest) if a retrospective Insurance audit should take place.
