Installation Service for new Bishop 
Bishop Crest You are cordially invited to attend the Installation Service for Bishop Gregory V. Palmer as Bishop of the Ohio West Area.  

The formal installation ceremony and worship celebration will take place Sunday, September 16, 2012, at 4:00 p.m.. in the sanctuary at the Church of the Messiah United Methodist Church.  A reception will follow.

College students at Bowling Green State University enjoy an ice cream social sponsored by the United Methodist Student Organization.
Know of a student from your church beginning their first year of college this summer or fall? We invite you to help them get connected to a United Methodist affiliated campus ministry. 
The West Ohio Conference supports multiple campus ministries in various universities spread across Ohio. These campus ministries are ones that we affirm are spreading the Gospel message and making and nurturing disciples of Jesus Christ. To connect your college students with a campus minister, click here and complete the webform.  Your student's information will be forwarded to the appropriate campus minister. 
Dayton church expanding Spanish Worship and Community Ministry
Upbeat music and passionate preaching in beautiful outdoor surroundings set the stage for a celebration of accomplishment.  The June celebration was the first service conducted entirely in Spanish by a small congregation on the east side of Dayton. St. Paul United Methodist Church recognized English as a Second Language students and Bible study participants during this worship service at the Normandy United Methodist Church shelter house. The students received Spanish Bibles and certificates for their effort and hard work.  [more] 
Katrina Volunteers in Mission opportunity

An opportunity to serve in Mississippi this October helping Katrina families is being planned by Dave Tharp.  An organizational meeting is scheduled for Sunday, September 9 at 2 pm. Help Kamina students attend Africa University!

Orphaned by disease or violence, many children in Africa face dim futures without the support of someone who cares. Thanks to the Kamina Children's Home, Africa University, and The United Methodist Church, two of those children, Delphin and Chantal, have a chance to escape the cycles of poverty that ensnare so many of their generation throughout Africa. UM Paralympian goes for the gold

United Methodist wheelchair racer Tatyana McFadden is going for the gold at the 2012 Paralympics Games, slated for August 29-September 9 in London. McFadden, 23, is a student at the University of Illinois. No stranger to the Paralympics, she garnered silver and bronze medals in Athens in 2004 and in Beijing four years later. This year, she and her 16-year-old sister, Hannah, will both be competing in the 100-meter race.

Connecting spirituality and art
Artist Trish McKinney confesses that she often struggles to spend quiet time with God, but she can talk to God through art. McKinney and Kim Miller, the campus and worship designer for Ginghamsburg Church, a United Methodist congregation, conducted a workshop that linked spirituality and art.  [more]
Wesley Ridge Retirement Community expansion named
The newest facility at Wesley Ridge Retirement Community has been officially named the Robert A. Barnes Center after longtime Wesley Ridge board member and current resident, Dr. Robert A. Barnes. The Robert A. Barnes Center will provide skilled nursing care and physical therapy services to rehabilitate residents to their maximum level of functioning. Anticipated opening is January of 2013.
