"Reel Ministry" Shared | Evangelical United Methodist (EUM) Church in Greenville, OH, was awarded a grant from the Miami Valley District in the Fall of 2011 to create "Reel Ministry" - an online audio/video library of various media resources available to United Methodist churches throughout the Miami Valley District and the West Ohio Conference. Bishop Gregory V. Palmer assigned to West Ohio |
Bishop Gregory V. Palmer, currently of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference, will officially begin in West Ohio on September 1. An installation service is scheduled for September 16, after which our new Bishop will personally visit each district. More information will follow with details on those events.
Please join together in welcoming and praying for Bishop Palmer and his wife, Cynthia, as they make this transition to West Ohio. Edgerton United Methodist Church fire | Residents in Edgerton, Ohio banded together last week to help a local church pick up the pieces. The Edgerton United Methodist Church in the Northwest Plains District went up in flames last week. Firefighters believe lightning caused the massive blaze. Although the Edgerton community is dealing with the loss of its church, they have wasted no time and are coming together to pick up the pieces. It is still unknown if the church will rebuild completely or just restore the damaged sections. West Ohio Conference Position Announcements |
The West Ohio Conference is seeking a candidate for the position of Conference Controller and Manager of Accounting. The successful candidate will have bachelor's degree in accounting and a minimum of five years experience including in the areas of financial statement preparation, policies and procedures audits and investment accounting. The right candidate will have a deeply committed Christian faith consistent with the standards of the United Methodist Church. Candidates who are CPA's are preferred. Bishops get report cards too | The report cards don't stop when you become a bishop in The United Methodist Church. In 2008, the Book of Discipline began requiring each episcopacy committee "to establish and implement" a procedure to evaluate its bishop at least every four years. Cambodia is one of West Ohio's Southeast Asia Global Mission Partners. Leaders from Cambodia will be at 2012 Cambodia Consultation September 19-22 at First United Methodist Church in Carrollton, Texas. This is a great opportunity to see and hear how God's Kingdom is being expanded in Cambodia and to develop relationships with our partners. Grants for Appalachian hunger and poverty projects |
The United Methodist Appalachian Ministry Network announces their fall grant for hunger and poverty projects. The Appalachian Hunger and Poverty General Advance Special (#982039) provides support to ministries addressing the long-term, structural, and systemic causes of hunger and poverty in Appalachia. The grant application is due on August 1 and is available to ministries that serve the Appalachian community within urban or rural areas. Link to grant page.
