Delegates and visitors to General Conference 2012 teamed up to help bag more than 40,000 pounds of cucumbers that were then distributed to homeless shelters and feeding programs around central Florida. The cucumber bagging was sponsored by Society of St. Andrew, a nonprofit hunger relief ministry started by three United Methodist pastors. [video]

The 2012 United Methodist General Conference paused on the afternoon of May 1 to remember those killed in a wave of late April violence in Nigeria and to pray for peace in that country. The uncle of a Nigerian seminary student present in Tampa was killed in a bomb blast in the city of Jalingo. The student, enrolled in a seminary on the U.S. East Coast, was here with a contingent observing the General Conference. [more]

February 4, 2008, God spoke to Buzz & Ellen Ditto from Delphos, OH, and said "Sell what you have, leave what you know. Come, I have work for you." And so their missionary journeys began as full-time volunteers at the Henderson Settlement. Their ministry is known as THE Carpenter's Ministry. Buzz builds with wood as Christ did as a carpenter.
