Bishop urges church to embrace God's unlimited imagination |
Just weeks before General Conference, directors of the General Board of Global Ministries were challenged to "leave the upper room" and embrace God's call to create missional congregations. Bishop Bruce Ough, who presides over the worldwide mission agency of The United Methodist Church, opened the spring board meeting by urging directors to "call on the Holy Spirit to unleash God's unlimited imagination." His words were preparing them for anticipated changes at next month's General Conference. General agencies, including Global Ministries, are potentially facing restructuring as a way to meet an adaptive challenge for the denomination to remain "a vibrant, relevant, and effective witness." Native American Ministries Sunday is one of the six churchwide Special Sundays of The United Methodist Church. This Sunday nurtures mission with Native Americans and provides scholarships for United Methodist Native American seminarians. West Ohio's Fred Shaw is a retired Elder who is available to lead your congregation in worship and to interpret the important work that this offering enables throughout the United States. He co-chairs the North Central Jurisdiction Committee on Native American Ministries and serves as the Jurisdiction's representative on the National Native American Comprehensive Plan. UMM to host friendly debate about proposed General Conference changes |
The Southwest Texas Conference United Methodist Men are hosting an informational debate March 31 at 3 p.m. to publicize about the denominational changes to be proposed at this year's General Conference session. The event will happen in San Antonio.

First Aid Station volunteers needed |

Each year at Annual Conference we provide a First Aid Station located at the rear of Hoover Auditorium that provides assistance to those in need. It is intended to provide minimum assistance with referral being made to off-site medical care. The station is staffed by volunteers who are willing give of their time and talent to assist any annual conference member in need. Wings of the Morning Caravan event at Indian Run United Methodist Church |
Wings of the Morning Caravan Campaign is a fundraising campaign to purchase a new airplane for the aviation ministry in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Lectionary error for June 17, 2012 | There is an error in the official United Methodist Revised Common Lectionary as printed in the Book of Worship. Since it was printed in the Book of Worship, the error has found its way into numerous lectionary-based publications and resources. The error is on page 233 of the Book of Worship, Year B, the "Sunday between June 12 and June 18 inclusive." The Psalm appointed for that day is listed as Psalm 20 or Psalm 72 (UMH 795). The correct citation should be Psalm 20 or Psalm 92 (UMH 811). |
