New Conference Director of Camps & Retreats |
Jeremy Stanford began as full time permanent Director of West Ohio Camping & Retreat Ministries on September 1, 2011 after serving this last year in the dual role of Interim Conference Director of Camping and Retreat Ministries and Director of Camp Wesley.
As West Ohio's Director of Camping & Retreat Ministries (a part of Connectional Ministries), Jeremy will ensure the success of day to day operations at our three West Ohio Camp & Retreat Centers and their respective directors, as well as be responsible for the alignment of this vital ministry with the vision and mission of the West Ohio Conference and The United Methodist Church. Join experienced team leaders for a Team Leader Training Day of education, fellowship and spiritual growth. The sessions will include skills and information for being a team leader as well as ways to provide effective spiritual leadership, appropriate ways to share leadership and how to create a worshipful mission atmosphere. New at United: Seminary for seniors |
United's new Seminary for Seniors, an exciting new learning opportunity for adults 50 and older, is being offered in Dayton and at Otterbein Community in Lebanon, OH. Courses for the program focus on issues related to the intersection of faith and culture and are designed to stimulate students intellectually while building fruitful relationships. Subject matter includes theology, cultural studies, literature and the arts, religious studies, science and philosophy. The next six-week session will begin in October. UMCOR's 9/11 aid lifted Pentagon corridor | In the neighborhoods around the Pentagon, there still are signs of the fallout of the terror attack 10 years ago. Signs of ministry done in the area are less tangible, of course. But thanks to more than $1.1 million from the United Methodist Committee on Relief in the form of "Love in the Midst of Tragedy" grants after 9/11, United Methodists did ministry and made an important impact in the area.
