Spielman Named Honorary Chair of Wings Campaign | Chris Spielman, former NFL and Ohio State football player, has agreed to serve as the honorary chair for the Wings of the Morning Caravan Campaign, led by the West Ohio Conference and supported by the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church.
"For the people of North Katanga (in the Democratic Republic of the Congo), Wings of the Morning is the life-blood of mission, bringing medical supplies, pastors, missionaries and Bibles to the interior of the Congo," Spielman says. "Wings of the Morning also flies the injured and critically ill to hospitals in larger cities. Without this plane, a lifeline of truth and mercy may be cut off." [more information] |

"Emma's Offering" |
Rev. Jim Wilson, pastor of Church of the Messiah UMC in Westerville, was stunned to be handed a $300 donation from third-grader Emma Taylor. She doesn't attend his current church but rather First UMC in Troy, OH, where Wilson was pastor until last July.
The penciled writing on the envelope made it clear how 9-year-old Emma wanted her money to be spent. Two hundred dollars was to go to "Pastor Jim/your church." An additional $100 was earmarked for Bradley's House of Hope, a therapy and education center for disabled youth in Nicaragua that Wilson named for his late son. Read what happened next. [more] |
