The procedure for submitting legislation is found in the 2010 Journal, on page 390, #14. Please send recommendations to the conference secretary through Katherine Pack at kpack@wocumc.org by March 15, 2011.
Candidates for Election to 2012 General or Jurisdictional Conference
While the deadline has passed for candidates to register and have their bio's printed in the Elections Team Voter's Guide, members of Annual Conference can still chose to run for election. Visit www.westohioumc.org/2011election for information on becoming a candidate, including how to register. We ask that all candidates register so that they can receive election information and updates.

I recently returned from a four-day visit to Haiti. I was there in my capacity as President of the General Board of Global Ministries to review the progress of our disaster recovery work one year after the earthquake that devastated much of Port-au-Prince and left nearly 300,000 dead. This trip also provided an opportunity for further consultation and coordination with the Methodist Church of Haiti. [more]

Bishop Ough to guide Southeast Asia mission | The Council of Bishops of The United Methodist Church recently named Bishop Bruce R. Ough to provide episcopal oversight to the denomination's mission initiative in Southeast Asia. The Southeast Asia Mission initiative was begun by the General Board of Global Ministries in 2000 in the countries of Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia. The General Board of Church & Society (GBCS) has developed bulletin inserts featuring individual United Methodist Social Principles. The inserts highlight positions approved by the denomination's highest policy-making body, the General Conference, on issues such as immigrants, health care, religious minorities, racism and children's rights. The new resource can be downloaded for free here. |

Roberts joins General Board of Global Ministries |
Dr. Gwendolyn C. Roberts, former Director of Metro Ministries in West Ohio and a clergy member of the Indiana Conference, was recently named the Assistant General Secretary of Training and Cultivation for Mission and Evangelism at the General Board of Global Ministries, the mission agency of The United Methodist Church.
The General Board of Global Ministries has renewed its commitment to new people serving in new places as United Methodist mission workers and volunteers around the United States and around the world. Dr. Roberts will lead the agency toward achieving the 2012 goal of one new missionary every 10 days or three new missionaries every month.
